I could write a really passionate paragraph about why I love it, or I could say read the thread I did and apologise for you not agreeing with me.

i think this tune is a bit....non-descript too.

i like that new antonelli electronic tune though.

well the original did come out over a year ago and in the context of 2001 and necessary and timely anthems it was quite a sensation...hadnt heard many tracks like that at the time - of course there are now hundreds of them...but if you subscribe to the notion of an electroclash scene is this not the track that really kicked that off?

love the LRD remix myself - had it in my head all morning so far...its a reminder that the key to a truly great dance track is knowing which elements to change and which to retain, it also adds something else entirely to give it new life

I don't know, it works for me because it's just so tight and rhythmic, I love the way it's just so relentless, that guitar squeal just keeps going and going, it just digs right into your head, reminds me a bit of Daft Punk Live in that sense. X-Press 2's remix of Rippin Kittin is pretty slick, I'm actually kind of feeling their David Byrne "Shine Sister" remix anyway, it's way darker than Lazy but that doesn't mean it can't still be cheesey.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 10:38 (twenty-three years ago)

not a fan of 'Lazy' myself - my triteness sense was tingling like mad the day i heard it...not that there's not far worse out there of course...and i'm glad it sold well for Rocky, Diesel and Ashley - fuck Byrne, he's got enough dosh

have to agree on "lazy". sounds like your pissed uncle singing "where love lives" at a wedding karaoke.

michael wells (michael w.), Tuesday, 24 September 2002 10:55 (twenty-three years ago)

at least your pissed uncle actually KNOWS about 'where love lives'

why? because heard loud in a nightclub, it'll blow yr socks off. i remember getting a promo of it and thinking it was pretty good but when i played it at the disco it was one of those 'wow' moments, where if i hadn't been the dj, i would have run up to myself to ask what it was. i played it to death and then put it away but all the remixes made me end up digging it out again and you know what? i end up still playing the original and the whole place still goes crazy.

it'll still be remembered in ten years time?*

btw, there's a bootleg of it fused with 'the walk' by the cure which is surprisingly good.

Silverscreen Showerscene is the best track to come out of the whole electroclash thing.. It managed to blow all the other dance tracks away when it was first released, and it still sounds as fresh now. But i finally got round to buying the Futurism compilation, and in the context among all the other tracks that's been lumped in the whole genre, it sounds even better

fair enough.

I've had the Phunk remix from Felix's Excursions mix going through my head all week now. It's fantastic, retaining the urgency of the original but giving it more space with that choral synth riff. I love records where someone sticks their finger on the keyboard and leaves it there far too long.
