mars volta has some interesting stuff here and there.

crime in choir is another one to add .... pretty rad electro progressive crossbreed. like yes-bred don caballero on mouse on mars and/or neu. dude from hella played the drums on the album and has since been replaced by another former atdi member.

I loved the Mars Volta live. I didn't think it was possible, but they were tighter and crazier than when I saw At The Drive-In. Their Tremulant EP is a bit of a drag, but they've got the chops to be really good.

Sparta fucking sucks.

Mars Volta has the histrionics live, but their EP is not impressive and it crosses over into jam. Sparta is more classic, but sounds warmed-over ultimately. Seeing the post-split divisions raises questions about whether the fuss over ATDI was a bit much.
