Best 1994 Ambient Album NOT named 76:14, SAW II or Lifeforms, final (?) round

These are all the albums that were nominated for the poll (that weren't part of the original group of three). Hymnvs, Dreamfish, and Fires of Ork were all left off the poll as they are all listed as '93 releases. And then there's Amber. It's an IDM classic, yes; but its central premise seems too rhythm-focused to belong in this poll. Please voice your dissent here. If enough people disagree, I will have one more round and put it up against 76:14 and SAWII... and call it a day. Otherwise, this is the final round.

Woob is a neglected classic, and easily the best of the em:t series. I wish I had ripped it in higher quality, as like the rest of the em:t recordings, the spacial qualities were (and perhaps are) state of the art.

i love Ambient Otaku, along with most everything Tetsu Inoue does.

Voted Banco de Gaia because I didn't think that anyone else would. And I still have a lot of affection for that stuff. That said, I haven't heard about half this list.

Woob without question.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 17 August 2012 08:27 (twelve years ago)

Was going to be annoyed that Woob wasn't on Spodiy but it does appear to be on bandcamp:

Another cheer for Ambiant Otaku. I'll take this one over SAWII any day.

kokokeho, Saturday, 18 August 2012 19:10 (twelve years ago)

another vote for Woob from me. Woob and his Journeyman stuff all-time classic to me. new Woob stuff also great.

beard papa, Sunday, 19 August 2012 07:01 (twelve years ago)

chanting is what's up

the late great, Sunday, 19 August 2012 08:31 (twelve years ago)

I'm just digging me some mystere de voix bulgare so chanting is fine by me, but the first track on that woob gave me a strong sense of ethnic musics cheaply appropriated for purposes of bog standard 90s new-age tosh. Perhaps it's better than that, but the damage has been done.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Wednesday, 22 August 2012 00:01 (twelve years ago)

Nice to see the votes spread out a bit... So the title of Best Ambient Album of 1994, according to the poll results (three rounds), shall remain a tie between 76:14 and Selected Ambient Works Vol II.
