Siegbran will be pleased at #27

I on the other hand voted for Trouble - Psalm 9.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 17 August 2012 16:58 (twelve years ago)

lol @ "Jobby For A Cowboy "

Fareed Zaireeka (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 17 August 2012 17:00 (twelve years ago)

Childish I know but I couldn't help myself.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 17 August 2012 17:00 (twelve years ago)

list needs more goo goo dolls

Fareed Zaireeka (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 17 August 2012 17:02 (twelve years ago)

gonna vote In Solitude cos it was cool when they changed extreme metal that time

it's-a me, irl (DJ Mencap), Friday, 17 August 2012 17:49 (twelve years ago)

you didn't have a say in the list then?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 17 August 2012 18:21 (twelve years ago)

That's a pretty solid list, even Job for a Cowboy – you can't deny that they've been incredibly influential, whether you like what they've influenced or not. That said, that Whitechapel record came out like two weeks ago, sooo...

Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Friday, 17 August 2012 18:55 (twelve years ago)

Why do magazines always sneak in new albums to these lists. I guess the label paid for some whopping adverts in return for the feature.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 18 August 2012 02:26 (twelve years ago)

The Slayer records are the most important but their records after the left are infinitely better. Animosity gets my vote cos it still stands up as just about the only crossover record that actually took the right elements of metal and hardcore and combined them. Plus no Corrosion Of Conformity = No Rorschach.

Oblique Strategies, Saturday, 18 August 2012 03:33 (twelve years ago)

No Warlord? Guess they changed POWER METAL instead.

don't slip in mud (Matt #2), Saturday, 18 August 2012 11:49 (twelve years ago)

is that really a bolt thrower record that people rep for?? huh

thomp, Saturday, 18 August 2012 11:55 (twelve years ago)

Tempted to vote Animosity, but I'm going to vote for my favorite and disregard the premise behind making the list.

In Solitude it is.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 18 August 2012 18:51 (twelve years ago)

Good album that.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 19 August 2012 03:10 (twelve years ago)

I love that In Solitude record, like, a fucking LOT, but there is no universe in which it "changed extreme metal"

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 19 August 2012 03:12 (twelve years ago)

like, I like them a little less if people are gonna talk shit like that

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 19 August 2012 03:13 (twelve years ago)

well that isn't the bands fault tbf. I can see how hype puts someone off checking a band out, been there done that, but it shouldn't stop you enjoying a record if you already do enjoy it.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 19 August 2012 03:18 (twelve years ago)

yeah that's a weird criteria to think about

like i feel like i should vote for "crossover", but idk

the most astonishing writer on ilx (roxymuzak), Sunday, 19 August 2012 03:19 (twelve years ago)

I think my favorite records on here are:

In the Shadows
With Oden On Our Side
both Slayer records
One Foot in Hell
both Cannibal Corpse records
Fates Warning
The Harvest Floor
+ the In Solitude record, but in terms of CHANGING EXTREME METAL, only Slayer, CC, & the Metal Massacre comp really qualify

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 19 August 2012 03:23 (twelve years ago)

the changing extreme metal thing was obviously the editor or whatever trying to have a good byline on the cover to temp people into buying the magazine.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 19 August 2012 03:27 (twelve years ago)

haha i know its a typo but temp is p accurate

This list more or less suggests that Metal Blade A&R dudes got lazy after the 80s & only bothered to sign bands that were already big?

Siegbran, Sunday, 19 August 2012 08:10 (twelve years ago)

got tired of sitting around waiting to recoup on that Witchkiller record

I can't figure out why With Oden On Our Side is the choice for Amon Amarth; Versus the World is the one with "Death in Fire" on it. This really is a "Metal Blade albums we really dig" list; the whole "changed extreme metal" thing falls apart after about two seconds' thought. I mean, what the hell is a slavishly retro act like Pilgrim gonna change?

誤訳侮辱, Sunday, 19 August 2012 12:55 (twelve years ago)

A list of everything they ever released: http://www.metalblade.com/english/aboutus.php (scroll down past the biography)

Upon perusal of the list, there are some notable titles missing from the Terrorizer thing – no Armored Saint, Bitch, Anacrusis, Hallow's Eve?

Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Sunday, 19 August 2012 17:11 (twelve years ago)

(Okay, maybe not Hallow's Eve, although that is a damn good record)

Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Sunday, 19 August 2012 17:12 (twelve years ago)

And oh yeah, they did release the first couple YOB records!

Hamster of Legend (J3ff T.), Sunday, 19 August 2012 17:13 (twelve years ago)

It seems Whitechapel are from roxy country, and sadly not a mockney deathcore band from east london. A band that would have been a whiney wet dream for sure.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 19 August 2012 18:18 (twelve years ago)

I had nothing to do whatsoever with the voting for that list. I would have put Haunting the Chapel ahead of Hell Awaits, for one.

A. Begrand, Sunday, 19 August 2012 18:44 (twelve years ago)

in terms of CHANGING EXTREME METAL, only Slayer, CC, & the Metal Massacre comp really qualify

largely looking at this from a position of devil's advocacy (I think the entire existence of this thing is stupid [and had no part in its construction]) but you could make a reasonable shout for those Trouble and DRI albums also imho

it's-a me, irl (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 19 August 2012 21:45 (twelve years ago)

yep they are from my town. cross paths with them some but not much. the old drummer of my current band played drums with them in the beginning - or something. they're not really my c.o.t. but theyre nice dudes
