Eperdu, for the Flower Duet vibes.

"Violaine" is the first Cocteaus song I really fell in love with

Hmm... It depends if we're talking about what's on the album or taking the songs in all their forms (remixes, live). I think SWAL has had the most interesting transformations with the Mark Clifford mix and its live performances (esp the White Room performance). On the album itself, Eperdu has the luxuriant beauty that I most value about late period Cocteaus. And then there's that matter of their best material inexplicably being relegated to b-side status on the singles from the album. Where to start: Flock of Soul, Alice, An Elan, Round, Tranquil Eye... Flock of Soul and Alice are two of the best things they've ever done, imo, and far exceed anything on the album.

Seekers Who Are Lovers -- in a career of amazing closers, this (on the close to their career) is their best.

Very, very slight edge to "Serpentskirt."

I need to give this another listen then? Probably my least played Cocteau's album

Kind of surprised by the results. Especially "Half-Gifts" and "Rilkean Heart" not getting any votes. They seem to stand out for me. Maybe it's the intelligible lyrics or their inclusion on the "Twinlights" EP.

Serpentskirt and Seekers Who Are Lovers are both unquestionably great, but man... Eperdu is the one! Just me?

I agree it's a great one. Could've been on Victorialand. I voted for "Seekers..."

LeRooLeRoo, Tuesday, 11 September 2012 04:39 (thirteen years ago)

damn how did I miss this? would've probably voted for "half gift".

"violaine" is so amazing too, though. encapsulates everything great about them.
