it's interesting to compare this version her 1963 recording of the song. her voice got a lot deeper over the course of her short career, and at some point she developed a singing style where she's speak the first couple words of a line, pause, and sing the rest, as if she was constantly on the verge of slipping into a talking blues cadence. it doesn't always work, but I generally prefer her singing on her later records
