A friend told me about some speakers that were made out of concrete (the membranes were concrete too) .. He's still looking for the plans, because , while I believe it, I can't imagine it..

Here's a Lego Harpsichord http://www.henrylim.org/Harpsichord1thumb.jpg And it actually plays.

Seen any other wild inventions?

harry partch came up with roughly eight bazillion different
instruments to play his microtonal music....things with names
like cloud chamber bowls, zymo-zyl, spoils of war, boobams, etc.
definitely very weird, whatever else you think of it.

According to the Penguin Jazz Guide, "In a music shop basement Kirk discovered a manzello and a stritch, rare horns apparently used in Spanish marching bands. The manzello approximated the pitch of the soprano saxophone... and the stritch was an off-pitch alto saxophone."

Mustn't forget Hans Reichel and his amazing daxophone!

I started to make a Theremin/Electric guitar. Not sure if it would be playable, but it would be capable of a lot of noise.

Still the best: Ben Franklins built this gadget out of glass bowls and a spinning wheel, and the musicians hands had to be wet for it to work. It made eerie, theremin-like sounds. I forget the name of it. Harmolodia, I think...
