syntax evasion (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 27 September 2012 21:47 (thirteen years ago)

altho that horn section at the end of "Freedom" makes me wonder

syntax evasion (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 27 September 2012 21:48 (thirteen years ago)

Tough, but I'll pick "Freedom".

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 27 September 2012 21:48 (thirteen years ago)

remember paul mccartney's 'freedom'? i wish i didn't.

"Freedom" is a fabulous karaoke song if you haven't smoked 16 cigs before hitting those high notes

love pretty much any 80s new pop fake motown and 'freedom' is one of the better ones but this is freedom 90 very easily for a lot of reasons not all of which are cindy, naomi, christy, etc.

balls, Thursday, 27 September 2012 21:57 (thirteen years ago)

'Freedom' definitely

'Separate Lives', by Phil Collins & Marilyn Manson (PaulTMA), Thursday, 27 September 2012 21:57 (thirteen years ago)

"too funky" vs "everything she wants" and "praying for time" vs "a different corner" for followup polls

balls, Thursday, 27 September 2012 22:00 (thirteen years ago)

"Too Funky" vs "Freedom '90" I'd vote for "Too Funky."

"Will you stop playing with that POLL of yours? I'm trying to get some sleep."

(and although 'Freedom' is a great song, I voted for 'Freedom 90', as it's one of the best 'pop star complains about how being a pop star sucks' songs ever)

a great poke for Jet Set Willy (snoball), Thursday, 27 September 2012 22:09 (thirteen years ago)

i would also vote 'too funky', i think i'd even take the 'too funky' video over 'freedom 90' also, 'freedom 90' might be more 'historic' in a 'lo there was a time SUPERmodels walked the earth' but 'too funky' seems to capture that pre-clinton 90s vibe more accurately.

Better house keyboard too.

(although the house piano in 'Freedom 90' is also pretty damn good)

so weird to think dana carvey managed to get into george michael's head

balls, Thursday, 27 September 2012 22:19 (thirteen years ago)

original freedom is a really cool song and the video in china owns, but i gotta go with my first love... christy turlington

turds (Hungry4Ass), Thursday, 27 September 2012 23:05 (thirteen years ago)

I really enjoy both. I feel like "Freedom 90" is the better song, but "Feedom" has more charm.
"Too Funky" is great but <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< "Somebody Else's Guy".

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 27 September 2012 23:30 (thirteen years ago)

"I'm Your Man" (the Wham! one) is kind of a perfection of "Freedom."

I don't remember those late Wham singles like "The Edge of Heaven" and "A Different Corner" getting any airplay, despite being top tens. The latter I learned to love later.

This is a beautiful write-up btw: http://freakytrigger.co.uk/ft/2009/11/george-michael-a-different-corner/

taking tiger mountain (up the butt) (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 28 September 2012 00:16 (thirteen years ago)

hmmm i was a little kid at the time and i'm pretty sure i saw "the edge of heaven" on MTV .. i def remember "i'm your man" on MTV

I really like both Freedom's a lot, although I think I prefer '85 slightly, and it's the one I'm more inclined to listen to.

'lo there was a time SUPERmodels walked the earth'

this hadn't occurred to me... are Supermodels a dead concept?

billstevejim, Friday, 28 September 2012 00:45 (thirteen years ago)

lol @ taking tiger mountain

"Freedom '90" for me. For some reason reason, I never got into "Freedom." Too cute, maybe.
