Anyway, this is a step up from BRONZE FIST, although I'm looking forward to the publication of MIDDLE AGES FIST.

I want that. Yes, not only is it nearly twice as much to order in the U.S., I don't know of anyplace that would carry it. Let's get this shit on e-readers already, FFS. If all the best magazines would give discount subscriptions, I would buy a color reader just for magazines.

Well I doubt it will be as much as $15 since it wont have the shipping charge from the UK that you would have if you order directly.

The bookstores have to pay to have it shipped. Uncut and Mojo and the like are always in that ballpark so I'm guessing this would be too.

Thats a shame if it costs that much but i did use to buy The Big Takeover/Skyscraper from Borders in Glasgow years ago and it wasn't that expensive.
However when they closed I had to order Skyscraper from a bookstore in America and it was probably close to $15 as shipping was double the cost of the mag

I will never understand metal.

It's very simple. 1) wear leather, 2) have long hair, 3) look mean, 4) pose for photos with an animal skull on a stick.

5) make sure the photographer applies a solarising filter in Photoshop.

You guys get Decibel and we dont and it would cost the same to ship. Nobody sells it at all in the UK.

I wish all these mags would sell pdf subscriptions. My wife has a sub where she pays $50 for a magazine that would cost $120 in physical form. If more of these music mags were available like Burning Ambulance for $5 a pdf or something I'd pony up more often than I do.

I dont have a kindle and I dunno i hate reading magazines or books on a computer. So i dunno if its any use to me, but I would maybe try 1 issue of Decibel if they did it.

I have some subscription to an online British magazine service; I have no idea whether or not they carry Iron Fist or not, but they carried Rock-a-Rolla, which is why I got it

They share scans now, so that's not gonna change. But, just as sites like Comixology are allowing people to buy comics at decent prices (well, the sales are decent) and allowing some former pirates to go legit, the same thing would happen for magazine publishers. Already enough people are paying for subs or single issues to make it palatable for some of these publishers to be doing it for years.

A quick googling makes it look like the service Drugs mentioned might be PocketMags. They offer pdf subscriptions and single issues of both Rock-A-Rolla and Terrorizer at affordable prices. 6 issues of Rock-A-Rolla for about $18, as opposed to $58. That'll get me to pony up once all my moving expenses settle down.

They should do what many other magazines do and have their own awards ceremony. I can just imagine it... a darkened room full of sullen faces, lots of dry ice and plenty of mystery. Just the way it should be!

I don't have anything against metal, but sometimes the promotion of metal can verge on the ridiculous.

I guess what I'm saying is that animal skull on stick/leather/long hair/mean expression is the metal equivalent of hip-hop artists driving Hummers and throwing wads of money at the camera in slow motion. The music itself may be perfectly fine, but the exaggerated actions surrounding it just make me think "oh, you silly arse".

How dare a band be theatrical and dramatic! I demand my metal acts dress in business casual and all their band names be displayed in a tasteful and readable sans-serif font.

Would be preferable to the band name being presented as a logo that looks like it was drawn by a bored schoolkid during double maths class.

And it's a perfectly readable logo evocative of the band's earlier evil sound (I know they had it before they were second-wave BM but still).

I mean, even taking that cover as a single example, I find it easier to read the Darkthrone logo than I do that blackletter font they chose for the Saxon subhead.

I'm going to go ahead and pick up issue #2. #1 was good enough for what it was. Not great writing, and I couldn't tell what the name of any of the bands from the photos, but reading two or three pages about a midwest band that only released a demo cassette in the early 90s is kind of a cool concept.

If it wasn't for a couple of threads on ILM in the past year, I would have been lost.

Man either my local B&N's don't carry it, or its selling out a lot faster than the Prog or w/e import rags.

I actually found Iron Fist #2 at one of the few remaining Barnes & Nobles in Chicago on Clybourn last night! From what I read so far is pretty good! Nice look and design, I even like the texture of the paper.
