renaissance brass music (gabrieli, schutz, et al)

this is probably leftover from hearing the opening to cbs's "sunday morning" every weekend but it feels apt

I always thought Silent Lovemaking's name was supposed to be ironic, their second album is one of the most abrasive and anti-semitic things i've ever heard.

fwiw, this, tenniscoats' temporacha, is a really awesome & perfect sunday morning record:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61u3vERe1WL.jpg

its field recordings of them playing music outside, the music sitting close to the mics above the approaching & receding noise of the outside world - you hear the wind a little, hear a car go by, i think. they are v pretty, honest guitar players & singers, and it's a really sparse textural playful record. whenever i have my shit together enough to plan that kinda thing, hearing it literally upon waking makes my sunday a little better.

actually my sunday morning music today has been giant sand's chore of enchantment and alvarius b's blood operatives of the barium sunset.

According to google

Silent Lovemaking - Librarians do it better(permalink)
Posted by Deety on Monday, 23rd August 2004 Last updated Monday, 23rd August 2004
Librarians are reputed to be the most silent love makers of all time. No screaming for more or loud moans and groans. Instead they have developed a sort of pleasure code based on the shushing sound and index finger.

They are also reputed to be the best prepared lovers, most have read all the technical and non technical books associated with the subject and therefore have a good understanding of the various positions and practices.

The best results are attained when two librarians do it, a common love making technique is to choose a book title and quote page references. Joy of sex, page 45, paragraph 2 is commonly whispered during librarians lovemaking session.

shushing sex does sound kind of appealing actually, tho just the sibilance, not the whole index finger over the mouth thing...

Gotta say, none of the offered options sound very appealing.

Personally, I prefer calm weirdo music like Shrimp Boat, the Durutti Column, Leo Kottke, and more recently, the Trypes' reissue on the Acute label.

Occasionally, Kristin Hersh's all acoustic albums or Stoned and Dethroned (JaMC).

Calm, somewhat quiet music that is made by obvious sociopaths.

Yeah, that's what I like.

Out of these option, Brubeck, as I've enjoyed his records on many a Sunday morning. I've tried Saties piano works too, but they're often too melancholic. Lately, my favourite Sunday morning album has been this:
