We sang this when I was in Kindergarten. I've found a few online threads where other folks (usually school teachers) are seeking the same song, though with minor variations on the lyrics that I recall.
Here's what I remember (and yeah, it's not a good song. This is purely a nostalgia trip...)
"I woke up this morning, what did I see?
Way up in the sky?
I saw a pretty rainbow smiling down on me,
higher than the birds can fly..."
Ringing any bells?
There was also this xmas song about "beautiful bows..." but that's another thread.

Ok two more...
"Bows, bows, beautiful bows
Red, green gold
Bows, bows, beautiful bows,
Blue, white bold
Each bow filled with beauty,
Each bow a delight
Bows, bows, beautiful bows,
Sparkling bright"
***
And this frenetic inspiration children's tune:
"You can do it if you try,
You can even learn to fly,
You can do it if you try,
You can do it if you try.
Joan of Arc was very brave,
For her country she would save..."
Yadda yadda. Anyone?

Am not sure about the first two, but I think the last one is "Carbonized Eyesockets" by Carcass.

It's called "Color me a rainbow", written and recorded by Jerry Caspell. Er, that might be enough to find it. Good luck.

A quick google of the title and Caspell brings up the lp on discogs.com and a few copies selling on ebay.

I think that Caspell album is the wrong thing. I already chased that dead end...
