seen 'twinkle' used to describe the guitars in a v specific strain of emo for years. think the idea of this being a genre might be, y'know, the power of suggestion but who knows these days

the last.fm page is pretty jampacked though tbf http://www.last.fm/tag/twinkle%20emo

i love dumbass emo terminology, like bands that have a guy that screams and a 'clean vocalist'

I am learning all kinds of things thanks to the Craigslist musician listings. I would also like to un-learn them.

it also always amused me how certain types of guitar bands always use the phrase "poppy" to express their embarrassment when they accidentally write something catchy and melodic

You oughta listen to Malegoat. They're the raddest twinkle daddies in all of Japan.

whiney likes twinkle bands like Fucked Up iirc

"Raddest twinkle daddies" sounds like it could be the name of the follow-up project from a former member of the Might Mighty Bosstones.

Okay, I've got a Malegoat youtube playlist running right now and they are not intolerable so far.

"Philadelphia loves Malegoat."

My friend Sarah posted this on FB in response to MTS wondering the same thing:

Have you (and I understand if you hadn't) looked at the "soundtrack" from Stephanie Meyer's website that she was listening to when she wrote Twilight? A lot of the bands in this genre are practically "spin offs" of these.

I was wondering that, ie the SMeyers thing

but then that craigslist post references like, Fugazi.

also gotta say this terminology is shared by metal, and possibly originates from metal

uh assuming your friend is talking about this http://stepheniemeyer.com/twilight_playlist.html I don't really understand where she's coming from at all there

like if she's just going for some 'all rock bands who sing about feelings are basically identical' thing then OK knock yourself out but selecting that playlist specifically seems a little odd
