seen 'twinkle' used to describe the guitars in a v specific strain of emo for years. think the idea of this being a genre might be, y'know, the power of suggestion but who knows these days

it also always amused me how certain types of guitar bands always use the phrase "poppy" to express their embarrassment when they accidentally write something catchy and melodic

Have you (and I understand if you hadn't) looked at the "soundtrack" from Stephanie Meyer's website that she was listening to when she wrote Twilight? A lot of the bands in this genre are practically "spin offs" of these.

like if she's just going for some 'all rock bands who sing about feelings are basically identical' thing then OK knock yourself out but selecting that playlist specifically seems a little odd
