i think i'm voting "When You Were Mine" but hope to find this on Spotify and listen before actually voting.

Bee OK, Thursday, 11 October 2012 02:20 (twelve years ago)

reptile / almost with you / tantalized

going with the latter as i think it's kilbey's best lyric by a substantial distance, also great & thrilling tune

ian curtis e. bear (electricsound), Thursday, 11 October 2012 02:23 (twelve years ago)

already yesterday / under the milky way / two places at once

can't decide!

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Thursday, 11 October 2012 02:25 (twelve years ago)

whoa. this is gonna take some thinking...

mr.raffles, Thursday, 11 October 2012 02:27 (twelve years ago)

Already Yesterday > Tantalized > Almost With You > Disenchanted > Louisiana > It's No Reason > Ripple > Reptile > Electric Lash > Antenna

Damn those Heyday tracks were NICE.

These are all kinda totally favorite though. Will sleep on this momentous decision.

mr.raffles, Thursday, 11 October 2012 02:37 (twelve years ago)

No, I won't.

Already Yesterday, it is.

mr.raffles, Thursday, 11 October 2012 02:46 (twelve years ago)

yeah those Heyday tracks are great. probably my favorite album by the Church.

Bee OK, Thursday, 11 October 2012 03:14 (twelve years ago)

I'd dare say the strings, horns and doodads make that record.
Kilbey's best melodies too?

mr.raffles, Thursday, 11 October 2012 03:29 (twelve years ago)

I'm really really tempted to vote for It's No Reason but really only because that is actually my favourite Church album.

But as a single I'd probably take When You Were Mine or Almost With You but now I'm going to have to dig out all the albums... oh wait, the singles collection is on Spotify. Any excuse, right?

White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 11 October 2012 09:01 (twelve years ago)

They reissued this comp a few years later, removing a track or two and adding the singles from "Untitled #23".

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Friday, 12 October 2012 04:05 (twelve years ago)

I had forgotten how lovely Metropolis was.

Peter Koppes vs Peter Buck mandolin-off, next.

White Chocolate Cheesecake, Friday, 12 October 2012 10:53 (twelve years ago)

almost with you reminds me of being in elementary school in the autumn, playing D&D, and that period where rock music lyrics are impenetrable but also essential.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Friday, 12 October 2012 13:43 (twelve years ago)

voting Reptile but yeah Tantalized Metropolis Constant in Opal even Under the Milky Way

shit no way are these guys not great

(REAL NAME) (m coleman), Saturday, 13 October 2012 00:46 (twelve years ago)

destination

'Anti-Rolling Stones Cannon' (Pillbox), Saturday, 13 October 2012 00:52 (twelve years ago)

Love how Destination goes all quiet, before Kilbey's vocals and the (nearly) "Be My Baby" beat do what they need to do.

Whatta band.

mr.raffles, Saturday, 13 October 2012 02:54 (twelve years ago)

Destination is such a weird choice for a single though... I deeply love the lyrics. Well, all their lyrics. Well, except a couple.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Sunday, 14 October 2012 00:35 (twelve years ago)

Well if no one else is gonna vote for Unguarded Moment, I will. Reptile and Already Yesterday close seconds.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 14 October 2012 01:19 (twelve years ago)

Destination

kornrulez6969, Sunday, 14 October 2012 02:00 (twelve years ago)

Even though they weren't singles, "You Took" and "Aura" really need to be on here.

"Comedown" is possibly the most underrated of all of these.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 14 October 2012 23:28 (twelve years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

I feel good about my vote after listening to all of my options again. Tough choice for real!

the fipster discography site is down! curse you, apple.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Monday, 15 October 2012 01:15 (twelve years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

Starfish Starfish and Starfish up top.

mr.raffles, Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:02 (twelve years ago)

another poll, another lonely vote for me

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:23 (twelve years ago)

listening to "kings" from priest=aura driving in from south austin early this morning as flocks of birds flew into the sunrise, all pink and orange and deep blue.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 02:31 (twelve years ago)

ooh that's the one that talks about mandrake root isn't it

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 03:21 (twelve years ago)

well, it's a church song that talks about mandrake root, which is why I love the church so much.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 04:28 (twelve years ago)

this poll got 30 votes, yeah i thought it would only get into the teens

go San Francisco Giants! (Bee OK), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 05:04 (twelve years ago)

i was never able to listen this comp before voting. i also see i was the only vote for "6 When You Were Mine."

go San Francisco Giants! (Bee OK), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 05:05 (twelve years ago)

this poll inspired me to dredge up remote luxury, wouldn't say its their best but it simultaneously "sent me back" & sounded fine here & now

(REAL NAME) (m coleman), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 09:20 (twelve years ago)

the church are excellent for getting unstuck in time.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Tuesday, 16 October 2012 14:46 (twelve years ago)

ten months pass...

after completely unrelated events caused me to re-read my diary from my junior year of high school, I found this inside
