"Knowledge of mid and late 90's indie music beneficial, but not necessary, as full training on this subject will be provided."
wtf?!

Can't spell parliamentary, obviously, because I'm so mindfcuked by this strange requisite for the job.
"Ah, minion. I need you to look up some Northern Uproar lyrics for me."

Why would the MP from Walthamstow need an assistant with this knowledge? wtf has that knowledge got to do with parliament right now? wtf form would this "full training" take?
Just absolutely baffled.

This is sort of amazing? I think you should apply just so we can find out more.

She's an 'indie kid', apparently (http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/04/29/stella-creasy-interview-huffington-post-payday-loans-crime-women-politics_n_1462402.html), so presumably she intends to subject her Parlimentary Assistant to Sleeper and Echobelly, day in, day out :(
I assume the reference to it in the job application is a protection against her PA taking her to the European Court of Human Rights further down the line for her forcing them to toil in inhumane working conditions.

One of the best things about becoming an MP was becoming Twitter friends with The Wedding Present, because I adore them, I spent New Year's Eve with them in Camden. It was brilliant.
Who needs an MP for whom working for the benefit of their constituents is the best thing about the job?

- it's fairly obviously a joke playing on creasy constantly expressing enthusiasm for '90s indie on twitter (in a self-aware way, not annoying)- despite her horrendous taste - which seems to be common in the labour party - she's one of the few young MPs i've actually been impressed by

Sick you didn't actually take that seriously did you?
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 23 October 2012 16:12 (thirteen years ago)
why mid to late though? Think of all the crappy Evening Session fare, take your pick
― Master of Treacle, Tuesday, 23 October 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)
This is my MP, she makes lol indie jokes a lot.
― Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 23 October 2012 16:43 (thirteen years ago)
Matt - kind of, aye, just because you'd never get shit like that past HR where I work! Obviously it's (at the least) tongue in cheek, I'm just baffled it got included at all.

it's just a bit in-jokey really - presumably anyone who applied for it would be familiar with creasy on twitter, where she often talks about her younger staff being unaware of her favourite bands
why people in and around the labour party, more than the others, have such a love of fucking dreadful indie is the real question. i saw tom watson doing kaiser chiefs at karaoke at the labour conference ;_;

like i'm not even joking, would far rather kick it with samcam and listen to azealia banks
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 23 October 2012 16:58 (thirteen years ago)
