yeah i have a weird soft spot for 'jesse james', have weirdly crystal clear memory of hearing that piped in a kum's while spending hours staring at starter jackets. is 'everything' the last big jody watley hit? that taylor dayne backing track is some of the most generic 1990 shit you can find but it's got taylor dayne on top. that lou gramm vid might be the least dramatic 'dramatic' video ever, i thought the chick was jeanne tripplehorn at first. went w/ 'pump up the jam' over 'rhythm nation', w/ 'everything' over 'don't know much' for third (both waaaay behind 'rhythm nation'). w/ the exception of cher i have no use for anything else here. wow was adult contemporary running the show.

"Everything" is her last top ten but the house-y "I'm The One You Need" hit the top twenty in '92.

yeah the song's got some lol house signifiers (as does the vid) but it pretty limp overall, maybe a better vocalist might've been able to take it somewhere (taylor dayne?) but man not jody watley.

sometimes i'll think about phil collins and think "man, 'in the air tonight', 'i don't care anymore', 'i'm not moving', 'sussudio', 'easy lover', 'against all odds', 'take me home', 'one more night' - what my problem w/ this guy again?" and then, eventually, i'll remember "another day in paradise".

The only one I don't care for is the Taylor Dayne one. Even that cheesy NKOTB song is okay. But voting Phil Collins.

Although mostly forgotten, the Cher song is almost as gloriously cheesy as her early '70s hits: "I'm gonna shootcha down Jesse JAY-AAAMES!!!". But it's not better than "Pump Up The Jam".
