i know the middle and sweetness will probably win it all, but "if you don't, don't" is seriously the only dud imo

get it faster, your house, authority song all classic (of the non-singles)

An old editor had a spare ticket when these guys came through town a few years back, and "A Praise Chorus" was amazing live, so as much as I love "The Middle" I'll throw a vote to their heart-on-sleeve fandom.

praise chorus. love this record.

bill cosby synclavier samples (electricsound), Friday, 16 November 2012 04:17 (twelve years ago)

Should have included the bonus cuts!

Praise Chorus for me too.

Good job, good multiple efforts (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 16 November 2012 04:24 (twelve years ago)

Will always be "Sweetness" for me.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Friday, 16 November 2012 04:30 (twelve years ago)

killer record. when the album dropped i was surrounded by emo dorks who felt so betrayed by this band, and i was all 'whaaat they finally got good!'

Mordy, Friday, 16 November 2012 04:42 (twelve years ago)

fitting story, in eighth grade i had the cd in my locker and the girl who had a crush on/terrorized me stole it and never gave it back. first of several times that happened.

Sweetness, for me

But I could've gone with a couple other songs

Raymond Cummings, Friday, 16 November 2012 11:46 (twelve years ago)

this is one of the records left behind at a famous ilx crime scene, no?

voted a praise chorus but maybe should have picked the middle

Guidance counsellor rock = dud

EveningStar (Sund4r), Thursday, 22 November 2012 00:26 (twelve years ago)

The top 3 here and "If You Don't. Don't" are my keepers from this.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Thursday, 22 November 2012 00:27 (twelve years ago)

man i was in middle school for 'the middle' and the entire song applied to me but i somehow didn't relate to it at all and i still loved it

like even as a middle schooler i could appreciate that song as an old man

I have done bad. I love my pj's. (zachlyon), Thursday, 22 November 2012 00:31 (twelve years ago)

I assumed "The Middle" would walk away with this and voted elsewhere!

etc, Thursday, 22 November 2012 02:15 (twelve years ago)

If I'd seen this, The Sweetness would've had 6

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 November 2012 02:46 (twelve years ago)

I still fucking love that song so hard.

goya cézanne (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 November 2012 02:46 (twelve years ago)

yeah it is killer

some dude, Thursday, 22 November 2012 02:48 (twelve years ago)

forgot how much i used to crush on "if you don't..."

my wife and i used to play the living fuck out of this record

Raymond Cummings, Thursday, 22 November 2012 04:09 (twelve years ago)

I was the only voter for If You Don't... and I only decided to vote for it because zach was knocking it upthread. Really, every song on this record is brilliant aside for Hear You Me, and even that works as a nice breather on the album.

Room 227 (cryptosicko), Thursday, 22 November 2012 04:50 (twelve years ago)

i always end up skipping it, but every song has its fans and whatnot

I have done bad. I love my pj's. (zachlyon), Thursday, 22 November 2012 05:32 (twelve years ago)

Lest my vote sounded too reactionary in my above post, I should add that I was like 80% likely to vote for that song anyway.

Room 227 (cryptosicko), Thursday, 22 November 2012 05:46 (twelve years ago)

six years pass...

nothing but hits on this record

deserved 8 more votes

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 March 2019 15:34 (six years ago)

Best album - not a single bad song on it.

"Hear You Me" is my least favourite but it was on the soundtrack of a ton of terrible teen movies/dramas in the 00s, so I appreciate its existence.

Roz, Wednesday, 6 March 2019 02:55 (six years ago)

Listening again tonight and yeah, there's really not a duff track in the batch. This kind of music is not really my thing, but the songs are so good and well-arranged it kind of transcends (my) taste.
