Momus to thread...

So for the past few weeks, they've had this thing in heavy rotation on Hot 96.5 "The Party Station" here. It's a bit out of place, I guess, it being a pretty straight up hip hop station. But it's getting love from somewhere apparently. It sounds like a very bland French house rip with the filter fun kept to a minimum to avoid shocking folks. Sexless. Milquetoast. But I always listen all the way through when it's on, if just to study its blandness. Strange.

am i the only person on ilm who loves "just the way you are"? the follow-up single "in my mind" (came out at the end of last year) was just as good... unfortunately, she seems to have disappeared without trace.

Just The Way You Are bore a very strange resemblance to Listen To What The Man Said by Wings.

well It does sample Go-betweens and the producer is a big pop fan who lurks on soulseek :-)

I liked it, but not enough to get really excited about - it's a bit like Moony "Dove", actually. Same producers perhaps? It sounds Italian, Azzetto & Broggio maybe...

yay Tom! Siegbran, I know what you mean by not being able to get excited by it - i felt the same about DB Boulevard's "Point Of View" (which is, of course, sung by Moony). Yeah, "Just The Way You Are" (i love the video too coz it fits the mood perfectly) sounds a bit like "Dove", but as far as i'm concerned "Dove" is in a league of its own, one of the best love songs of the last few years.

when all this gets mixed up, i'd rank it like this:

Dove >>>>>> In My Mind > Just The Way You Are > Acrobats > Flying Away > Point Of View

Siegbran, is there any good recent italo i should look out for? i haven't heard much of worth recently, but i'm sure i must be missing SOMETHING.

Benassi Bros ft Violeta - I Love My Sex (New Dot Remix)

This track is total disco heaven in the Moony/Milky style with, "Men Are Not Nice Guys"-style almost-whispered female vocals, a lovely "lalala" melody, those good ol' italo pianos and a mega-slick groove. The other mixes aren't that great though, with the Sfaction mix sinking to new lows by being yet ANOTHER "Satisfaction" carbon copy.

Another nice one, which sounds exactly as one would think it does:

Eiffel 65 - Viaggia Insieme A Me (original is somewhat down-tempo, the remixes are more dancable)

thx Siegbran. that site looks great but it's intimidating - i don't have the means nor the time to download all that and it's not like i wouldn't if i could! still, i'll try catch those two tracks at least.
