-Miranda Lambert - "Safe": the timing of how she sings "i'll keep you safe" throws everything off for me. i want the first few words to be more staggered to give it more weight. I also feel similarly about Ciara's "Speechless"
-Rihanna - "S&M": some of the lyrics are just so stupid that it doesn't matter if i think the composition is actually really good. same goes for GaGa's "LoveGame" and, on a different wavelength, Kate Bush's "Moments of Pleasure". But it really just boils down to a few words that ruin the songs in my mind. Even the new Rihanna song "Numb" could benefit in a big way from just replacing the word "numb" which something else less #trendy (still an amazing song tho tbh)
-Cherrelle - "Oh No It's U Again": there's this one drum sound that pisses me off. it's just so loud and interjects in all the wrong places and distracts from a perfectly good track.
I notice this happens a lot. Devil's in the details, for me at least. It's like the song is juuust about perfect, and then there's that one little thing ...
i dunno maybe it's just me

The way the tuned percussion has a couple of off-sounding notes in Unfinished Sympathy.

good thread idea. i'm totally ridiculous about holding very minor things against songs so i'm sure i will think of some to post but can't at the moment.

In Springsteen's "Prove It All Night," after the line "tie your hair back in a long white bow," Max Weinberg is just a hair late. It's like getting to the top of a staircase and you think there's another stair, but there isn't, and you take a huge, awkward step.

ยต-ziq - the fearAlways loved this vocal IDM single; but there are moments where the track clips in a very audible and noticeable way.

cassie Balcony has this one clip in the vocal track that really rubs me the wrong way right at the chorus, puts a damper on the momentum

XTC Your Dictionary lyrics: in the second line of each of the first two verses, the parts of speech don't match. (For instance, KICK = noun or verb, while the intended sense of 'kind' is an adjective.) Partridge should have swapped KICK and COLD. So fussy, I know, but it bugs me.
