Pinkish Black (Attn: industrial-goth-metal types)

I guess this is as good a time as any to start a thread for this duo, from the Dallas-Ft Worth area. Specializes in a sort of electro-black metal hybrid. Fellow ILX poster EZSnappin turned me onto them. Their self-released, self-titled first album is up on Bandcamp, and it is def one of the best and most original metal long-players of the year.

In my opinion this is a top 5 track of the year, taking a loop of ugly atonal electronic noise and somehow alchemically transforming it into gothic prog-disco krautrock. Basically a cornucopia of great song ideas that somehow fits together--almost.

I'm huge into this band. Incredible record, like a more metal-inclined Suicide.

Adrien - speaking of Suicide, the floppy disc is NOT a Suicide cover. It's an 86-second cover of the classic WCW Wrestling theme. Apparently Daron is an old wrestling fanatic.

I have it on good authority that it won't be an obscurity forever. No definite plans, but it is being talked about.

Ok this band rules. I listened to "Against the Door" as I was shopping for tofu puffs and eggs at the Asian market and I seriously thought I was going to puke, but in a good way. It was really overwhelming and trippy, esp by the fish counter. Will listen to the whole thing as soon as I have time to.

I listened to the whole album and now this band kind of reminds me of a combination of Goblin and Yakuza (minus the horns).

Their newer stuff is even more in that vein. The next record should really be something.

A different health related issue. Daron's had a shitty last 6 weeks or so.

Stuff he should get through, as far as I know, but serious enough (mentally and physically) to really suck. If I hear more or he tells me the things I know are okay to share I will.

Second record should be out before June. It's been in their label's hands for a little while now.

Shooting Guns absolutely rule and I can't wait to hear the new album. They're Saskatoon's finest export, and thus were introduced to me by Adrien. I wish they were local to me as Adrien says they're a killer live band too.

that was last night. They were great, M Geddes Gangras solo set was very cool, and Akron/Family isn't really my bag but the crowd loved it.

yup. Different setlist than usual too, though all from the new record. Both guys think the break will do them good. Hung out with Daron a bit tonight at the A Band Called Death screening.

Yeti is great 70s German-style prog. The Pointy Shoes is goth cabaret. It has moments.

Yeah I've already checked out all the Great Tyrant stuff, I loved it and was curious about some of those other projects. Yeti is next on my list for sure.
