Why does ethan keep categorising his threads in the Momus to the power three category even when they've nothing to do with Momus?

lady, if you have to ask, you'll never know.

I may download a Momus tune soon. Mainly because I've seen pictures of him wearing an eyepatch, which I like to imagine was inspired by Slick Rick.

Thank you for talking about me. As a token of my gratitude I'd like to post a preview of the lyric of 'Erostratus', a song from the forthcoming Momus album 'Oskar Tennis Champion'.

On the night of 21st July, 356 BC
I, Erostratus, burned to the ground
Here in the port of Ephesus
The fabulous temple of Artemis
One of the wonders of the world

I did it to get famous. To thwart me
The authorities stupidly forbade my name
On pain of death
Ever to be mentioned again

Fools! That was my guarantee
Of immortality
Some tool in the 21st century
Even as we speak is singing about me!

Even in your day I have many
An imitator and admirer
My name endures, Sartre said
'Like a black diamond'

Although I've read his posts with pleasure for quite some time, I've still never heard a Momus song. From what I've read about this "new sound" electroclash (which I've never heard either)(ok, I'm lying I heard a Miss Kitten song on a listening station at Virgin), my mind's ear thinks Momus could do a crossover in this genre. Am I right? Remember, I'm going from descriptions only here, but look: dry, droll spoken-to-sing-songy vocals, hopefully about sex (check), rudimentary electronic backing tracks (check) new-wavish image (uh, check sorta), party-happy dance beats not check, and therein lies the key. Doll him up in some cheezy drum machine beats, and... oh nevermind.

Of course, you know the two million pounds was a lie, right? Which leaves job satisfaction as the musician's principal reward, even if you're Fischerspooner.

Casey and crew dress up because they love it, it's what they'd be doing anyway. I love writing pop songs about arsonists in 356 BC. If someone gives me a couple of million to do it, fine. If not, fine too. It's what I'd be doing anyway, just like Tom Waits would be singing Lutheran deathsex hymns on a calliope whether you paid him or not.

Tell me when Waits goes Electroclash, and I'll consider doing the same.
