why are the script collaborating with will.i.am and just how shit is that song? why is olly murs collaborating with flo rida and etc etc?

it's sort of entertaining that the appellations of the people responsible for british charity singles sound like death metal bands.

Sam And The Womp - Bom Bom

i have never heard OF this but it is the combination of artist name and song title that makes me most ashamed to be british.

"wings" still sounds like the music from a tampon advert but it's less shameful than sending a song solely famous for being on that twee john lewis xmas advert to no 1.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
Rudimental ft. John Newman - Feel The Love
Wiley ft. Ms D - Heatwave

^^these are the ones i find very enjoyable in original form

DJ Fresh ft. Rita Ora - Hot Right Now
Tulisa - Young
Rita Ora ft. Tinie Tempah - RIP
Cheryl Cole - Call My Name

^^the originals of all of these pretty much suck but they all have amazing remixes, especially the royal-t remix of "call my name". dunno what to vote for, kind of feel like i want to show some love to a non-"call me maybe" but i also need CRJ to win this thing.

"We decided to go to a fancy dress party as the Scissor Sisters..."

earth of (snoball), Monday, 31 December 2012 09:07 (twelve years ago)

"Gangnam", sorry :\

Love love love "Hot Right Now", don't think i care about/remember any of the others, special circle of hell for charity singles/tiny-faced crying cunts off the X-Factor, obv

soma dude (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 December 2012 10:33 (twelve years ago)

oh i like the Labrinth one too but i think i have a man-crush on Labrinth so

soma dude (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 December 2012 10:33 (twelve years ago)

Worst on this list is that Robbie Williams song. Finally this century has it's 'Agadoo'.

earth of (snoball), Monday, 31 December 2012 10:40 (twelve years ago)

Robbie Williams is pretty fucking terrible but Paul McCartney appearing on one of the worst songs ever written for charidee just edges him out

soma dude (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 December 2012 10:42 (twelve years ago)

Charity singles I can tune out and ignore though.

earth of (snoball), Monday, 31 December 2012 10:48 (twelve years ago)

The guy from The Script is on The Voice with Will.i.am.

The Sam And The Womp single is a not particularly good example of faux Balkan funk but better than much of the list.

Tullamorte Tullamore (ShariVari), Monday, 31 December 2012 11:13 (twelve years ago)

yeah Sam and the Womp is perfectly pleasant if you don't see them or know what they're called

soma dude (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 December 2012 11:15 (twelve years ago)

I heard 20 seconds of it and wanted all life on Earth to be extinguished. The trumpet bits are nice though.

earth of (snoball), Monday, 31 December 2012 11:39 (twelve years ago)

It's pretty much a Fanfare Ciocarlia rip with twee vocals but it is a great source to draw from and unusual in the UK.

Tullamorte Tullamore (ShariVari), Monday, 31 December 2012 11:44 (twelve years ago)

If they can be convinced to be the UK's Eurovision entry this year, we might have a chance of doing well.

earth of (snoball), Monday, 31 December 2012 11:46 (twelve years ago)

Carly Rae for me.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 31 December 2012 12:54 (twelve years ago)

I had always assumed Sam and the Womp were European.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 31 December 2012 12:55 (twelve years ago)

The singer is Dutch, at least one of the others is British (and Trevor Horn's son)

if, Monday, 31 December 2012 13:13 (twelve years ago)

dunno if you've heard the album but as a fellow labrinth sympathiser i've been enduringly fond of the opener this year

r|t|c, Monday, 31 December 2012 14:23 (twelve years ago)

yeah i got the album expecting 12 "Earthquake"s and then was slightly disappointed and then came around pretty strong

soma dude (Noodle Vague), Monday, 31 December 2012 14:30 (twelve years ago)

Sam And The Womp

y'all alright over there?

dead cera (J0rdan S.), Monday, 31 December 2012 14:42 (twelve years ago)

voted heatwave

traitors can vote for one of the rest anywhere

r|t|c, Monday, 31 December 2012 14:42 (twelve years ago)

Voted DJ Fresh, mainly cos "Hot Right Now" probably won't make my ballot in the ILM poll. It's also a long way from being the best thing on his album, but he's generally A Good Thing IMHO. And yeah, there are some good remixes of this.

Jeff W, Monday, 31 December 2012 15:50 (twelve years ago)

I for one really like 'Wings'. Great beat, brimming with hooks.

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Monday, 31 December 2012 16:02 (twelve years ago)

And 'Hot Right Now' is so vastly inferior to 'Gold Dust'.

lmao i can't believe that chris brown song went #1 anywhere.

i voted "call me maybe" just like many others are going to.

actually really liked "how we do". my friends would always moan about how awful it is whenever we heard it out and i'd just be like "ha ha ha yeah, so bad, biggie must be turning in his grave" etc. while secretly reminding myself to go download it after i got home

teledyldonix, Monday, 31 December 2012 18:20 (twelve years ago)

This is a slightly better list than 2010 and 2011, plenty of dross actually but at least four songs I actually like.

Everyone's going to vote for Carly Rae so I'm going to sling a vote to Rudimental.

Matt DC, Monday, 31 December 2012 18:48 (twelve years ago)

God I hate Call Me Maybe.

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Monday, 31 December 2012 19:18 (twelve years ago)

TOTP is on BBC1 now, in case anyone has trouble deciding.

earth of (snoball), Monday, 31 December 2012 19:19 (twelve years ago)

I actually really like the Rudimental song, but didn't know what it was called or who it was by till just now.

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Monday, 31 December 2012 19:24 (twelve years ago)

Re "Bom Bom": glad to see the UK still has the spirit that brought "Doop" to the #1 spot.

your damn bass clarinet (Eazy), Monday, 31 December 2012 19:37 (twelve years ago)

Will end up voting for one of these:

David Guetta ft. Sia - Titanium
Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
Rudimental ft. John Newman - Feel The Love
Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa - Payphone
Florence + The Machine - Spectrum (Say My Name)
Swedish House Mafia ft. John Martin - Don't You Worry Child
Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch - Sweet Nothing

Feel like the chart was pretty good in 2012!

Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band ft. Military Wives - Sing 3

who are these people?!??!

danzig, Monday, 7 January 2013 00:05 (twelve years ago)

fun ahead of gotye, but i mean in 96 either single would've been taken out back and shot

let's bitch about our stupid, annoying co-ilxors (darraghmac), Monday, 7 January 2013 02:46 (twelve years ago)
