Heres your chance to propose a List of albums that don't get on the big 'Magazine Lists'.
While making your selections, keep three rules in mind at all time.

  1. No saltine ass cracker whitebread honkies allowed. Only those with melanin can get on the list.
  2. Exceptions to rule #1: Miles Davis, Public Enemy, Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye are already well represented in the other lists.
  3. Yes, people that aren't 'White' but aren't 'Black' either, are also allowed. In fact, this is the list for the whole 'third world'.

Begin your funky flamenco gamelan rai attacks...nooowwwww...

Sure, jel...Slayer is kinda like "black" metal...but thats not the kinda "black" (...latin|asian|indian...) I'm talking about.

Gilberto Gil's self-titled album from 1969 with the creepy gnostic lettering on the front (as opposed to his other self-titled albums from the 1960s), the one with "Cerebro Eletronico" and "Aquele Abraco." An absolute Brazilian freak-rock masterpiece, especially on Side Two.

And the best album of last year, Chuntaros Radio Poder by Mexican band El Gran Silencio: cumbia/reggae/rap/electronic/punk, but in a good way.

brg30 (brg30), Monday, 30 September 2002 21:50 (twenty-three years ago)

umm.. surely apart from and pre-Derrick, Sepultura are white Portugese Brazilians?

Wyndham Earl, Monday, 30 September 2002 22:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, I never see Sepultura on any magazines lists, so I guess they can get in.
Purely academic question: How much mestizo/indian/Latino blood do they have? Can they be considered "Hispanic but not White" or "White but not Hispanic"?
Or can we just pretend they are "Pacific Islander but not Asian" so that the paperwork looks tidy?

Lord Custos Alpha (Lord Custos Alpha), Monday, 30 September 2002 22:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Shuggie Otis - "Inspiration Information" is a-fucking-mazing. So sad he died.
