Voted Gym Class Heroes, no regrets.

Ne-Yo would prob be my #2, though there's a bunch of these I haven't heard (or don't recognize).

jaymc, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 18:59 (twelve years ago)

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 19:12 (twelve years ago)

"the motto" really got no votes? wow.

voting havana brown, the kind of total trash i'm a sucker for

lex pretend, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 19:13 (twelve years ago)

YOLO!

The Reverend, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 19:14 (twelve years ago)

yeah, but this is "The Motto" easily

The Reverend, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 19:14 (twelve years ago)

loved seeing it get no votes on P&J so much that i was almost reticent to start this thread where it will surely get plenty of votes.

the legend of bigger yansh (some dude), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 19:18 (twelve years ago)

Lots of Chris Brown and Chris Brown adjacent, and to be fair the dude should toil in obscurity for the rest of his life.

Ulna (Nicole), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 19:19 (twelve years ago)

I have never heard of any of these songs.

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 20:22 (twelve years ago)

the snrub snub doomed them all

big yansh theory (some dude), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 20:22 (twelve years ago)

would've voted for "The Motto" remix

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 21:16 (twelve years ago)

with Tyga?

big yansh theory (some dude), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 21:20 (twelve years ago)

unbelievably, yes

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 21:21 (twelve years ago)

dog i'm gonna make you comb over this verse and tell me what for then

T-raw, skinny nigga big balls
Fuck around and get Drag. Ru Paul
You funny little nigga Duval
Out of this world Total Recall
Call a bitch ride the dick like her see saw
Something like a donkey, act a ass nigga hee-haw
Ridin round in the ‘rarri wit the top off
While you in the window, man I’m probably on my next car
Aight, Mighty duck with the ice on
Real L.A. nigga chucks with the gun drawn
Drawing on your face you’re a clown jack in the box
Boy that’s your bop, she my new pum pum star
Stars in the back
Them my homies, they don’t act, acting brand new
Fuck her never call her back
Matt Forte got the bitch running back
Damn, That’s the motto you don’t know it’s like that

big yansh theory (some dude), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 21:25 (twelve years ago)

it's between drank in my cup, birthday cake, ne-yo, anad the motto for me ... prolly gonna go with neyo

乒乓, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 21:55 (twelve years ago)

Call a bitch ride the dick like her see saw
Something like a donkey, act a ass nigga hee-haw

....

............

lex pretend, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 21:58 (twelve years ago)

There's a reason these didn't get any votes.

Public Brooding Closet (cryptosicko), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 22:13 (twelve years ago)

in most cases, yeah! doing a thread like this is more interesting than starting more threads about songs we've discussed to death, though.

big yansh theory (some dude), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 22:15 (twelve years ago)

The Motto is the only one I've heard. So this is quite easy.

Frederik B, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 22:22 (twelve years ago)

voted the men in black iii song

da croupier, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 22:24 (twelve years ago)

the motto, work out, blown away, somethin bout a truck. partial to the gym class heroes song too. stan vote for moore i guess.

#guy #guy fieri #poop #hallway (zachlyon), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 00:35 (twelve years ago)

dog i'm gonna make you comb over this verse and tell me what for then

eh I've heard worse from Drake and Wayne

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 01:02 (twelve years ago)

the Wayne verse is the worst of the worst, so congrats to Tyga for not quite scraping the bottom of the barrel i suppose

big yansh theory (some dude), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 01:33 (twelve years ago)

tbh I don't mind "Mighty Duck with the ice on"

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 01:34 (twelve years ago)

Wow! Have heard NONE of these.

Raymond Cummings, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 01:38 (twelve years ago)

surprised "blown away" didn't get any votes

i voted "drank in my cup"

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:06 (twelve years ago)

her new single "Two Black Cadillacs" is even better.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:08 (twelve years ago)

The Linkin Park song is pretty great; they're a lot less rock than, IDK, the Killers, more Depeche Mode-y this far on from nu-metal. It's probably closer in tone/vibe to the Dawn Richard album than nearly anything else on the US charts, not that I expect this to endear them to lex :/

etc, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:09 (twelve years ago)

"Burn It Down" is like a good version of the M83 song imo

big yansh theory (some dude), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:13 (twelve years ago)

love the motto and work out, drink in my cup is pretty good too

"the motto" is one of drake's best songs... def one of his best rap verses. the tyga verse is utterly inane but fun to bop along to.

that was prob a track that slipped through the 2011/2012 crack.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:17 (twelve years ago)

yeah it definitely is, which surprised me because usually songs only slip 'between' years like that if they're not nearly that big

big yansh theory (some dude), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:19 (twelve years ago)

Ha, yeah. If I were braver, I'd post it to Rolling Like The Knife - there's something about their synth programming that's kinda Silent Shout/Music For The Masses.

etc, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:20 (twelve years ago)

(xpost to the sd's M83 comment)

etc, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:20 (twelve years ago)

yeah i don't remember the exact timing of "the motto" as a single but it was hard for me to think of it as a 2012 song even tho it would be in my top 10.

still weird that it got no votes, though. when wayne dropped "6 foot 7 foot" it made it onto some ballots even tho it had literally been out for like 3 days by the time P&J ballots were due.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:22 (twelve years ago)

yeah but that was an 'anticipated' song -- "The Motto" kind of dropped amidst a whole onslaught of Take Care singles and pretty gradually emerged as the biggest

big yansh theory (some dude), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:24 (twelve years ago)

amazed now that it's seeped enough into popular culture that I got students who don't know where YOLO came from

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:28 (twelve years ago)

Luke Bryan, "Drunk On You", easily

Euler, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:56 (twelve years ago)

love his cadence on the verses

Euler, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 02:57 (twelve years ago)

that one took a few months to sink in; he sounds a bit like a drunk James Taylor.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 03:02 (twelve years ago)

I liked the versions of both "Payphone" and "Ass Back Home" on the Punk Goes Pop 5 comp. I could happily live without all of these songs, though. Although that Pitbull song with Shakira missed both Billboard and the P&J, and I liked that...

glenn mcdonald, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 03:16 (twelve years ago)

The people saying "I've never heard any of these" have possibly heard "Drive By" and not realized it.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:27 (twelve years ago)

i left "Drive By" on for the whole song for the first time the other day just to be sure 'is this one of the Train songs i am willing to defend? nope, definitely not.'

some dude, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:33 (twelve years ago)

Drake has said the song was an answer song to the rock band Nickelback's "If Today Was Your Last Day"

billstevejim, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:40 (twelve years ago)

lmao

some dude, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:42 (twelve years ago)

i feel like you're all sleeping on "back in time," which conflates the Dirty Dancing and Ghostbusters II soundtracks brilliantly

da croupier, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:58 (twelve years ago)

i like that song. not one of my faves here though.

some dude, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:59 (twelve years ago)

I wouldn't turn off "Back in Time" if it came on the radio.

Public Brooding Closet (cryptosicko), Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:59 (twelve years ago)

plot summary raps are the best

some dude, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 05:59 (twelve years ago)

Pit's album also has interpolations of Sheryl Crow and A-Ha, dude is truly shameless in his plundering of hooks throughout history

some dude, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 06:01 (twelve years ago)

Voted for Turn Me On, with We Run The Night as a close relative and a close second.

breastcrawl, Wednesday, 23 January 2013 18:42 (twelve years ago)
