Bands you would and wouldn't want to be in?

What are some past and present bands/backing bands you would and wouldn't want to be in?

Want: Big Star, Nirvana, Thrush Hermit, Girls, The Band, The beach boys, Booker T and the Mgs, any backing band Phil Spector used, Radiohead, The Stooges

Wouldn't: Metallica

metallica would be ideal if you didn't care about being friends with your boss or having a creative outlet. just keep your mouth shut and collect $$$$, and it seems like you'd have a lot of time off.

Would: MBV, Glenn Branca Ensemble, White Denim (they look like they have so much fun, they are genuinely gleeful for much of the live show)

Wouldn't: The Magic Band (something about Van Vliet being a maniacal bandleader?), The Exploding Hearts (hey-yo)

Would: Swans / Branca / Chatham / Lungfish
Wouldn't: Any band that doesn't play repetitive minimalist guitar figures at excruciating volume.

came here to say wouldn't: Swans. Gira is a relentless taskmaster and bawls out his bandmates on a regular basis.

Would: The E Street Band.

yeah gira looked like a fucking dick and everyone in the band looked like they were so fed up with him correctively waving his hands at them when i saw them

would: any good to great band that could make me rich. if the other guys in the band are nice - that's even better.
artistically speaking? maybe pavement or something.

This whole thing reminds me of a guy I used to work with who would always phrase "Would You Rather" questions thusly: "would you rather [something disgusting] or be Chis Daughtry?"

Robert Fripp said in Musician Magazine in the 80s: "Mike Giles, the first drummer of King Crimson, always said that there were three things that keep a group together: the social life between the members, the money they make and the quality of the music. And any two of them will keep the band together."

So my answer is any band that meets the two out of three rule. Stop posting, lock thread, close ILM.

Haha, I guess, when it comes to Phil Spector, I really only wanted to be the drummer on Be My Baby, one my all time favorite songs.
I just love how those drums sound. Also, I think that maybe I am not interested in the money aspect and more the creative/fun side of things. But if you are in it for the money, all the power to you!

Would: Bon Jovi. I don't know nothing about those guys, but being in Bon Jovi always looked to me like: lots of money + playing stadiums + being allowed to do anything you want at concerts + no stress because nobody expects you to do anything of value anyway.

I suppose being in The Band would be great fun if I somehow replaced Robertson as guitar player, otherwise I can see his sheer assholism ruining the experience for me (as it did for everyone else, it would seem).
