...just when they were getting good.

michael wells (michael w.), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 07:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Myleene allowed to show her tits again now, then?

Anyway, who cares? I once played Monopoly with one of the final ten female contestants on Pop Stars: The Rivals. That's the future.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 07:57 (twenty-two years ago)

the public cooled on hearsay when they were perceived to be ungrateful, *we* the public gave them their chance, and they didn't come across right, too smug, too pleased. liberty x were always destined to have a better run of things (of course, they could be in the same position next year) because a) we like 'losers', b) less of an overt link to show, c) they've been marketed better, d) they've had better songs

why didn't kym marsh strike while the iron was hot?

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 07:59 (twenty-two years ago)

kym marsh is a mystery to me!! maybe she decided she didn't want "it" after all!! (which is interesting and cool: cf subway sect)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 09:06 (twenty-two years ago)

So, by your logic, precisely what did Hear'Say actually have going for them?

(wonders if the answer will be anything other than Myleene's chest)

Mr Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i think they had a) the tv programme, b) the public, who willed them on, wanted them to do well, etc etc - this only went when they began to seem divalike and ungrateful - the public can like this in bands, but not when its willed them on, *we* wanted some thanks from these people, c) a reasonably memorable first song, with broad appeal - can you even remember anything they did after this?

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

well I wanted to like their second single, if only because I generally like Stargate productions ... but yeah, you're right Gareth.

robin carmody (robin carmody), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

mr swygart: their hunger for "it" is what they had going for them (plus kym is a terrific singer and funny and vivid TV-head when she chose, and myleen had an interesting and bolshy -i-am-a-propah-trained-musician-u-know chip, cf alicia keyes etc)

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

don't forget the chest, mark.

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Marinaorgan (Marina Organ), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

''don't forget the chest, mark.''

that's all there was to it!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

the heart and lungs are in the chest, but there is also the head and hands

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)
