even tho it's the hit, tempted to vote for wild side -- it's pretty perfect. that double bass line, the drums, the strings, the sax solo, lou's voice...kind of a sublime song.

tylerw, Wednesday, 13 February 2013 17:43 (thirteen years ago)

Man I loved vicious way back when. I remember being in a bar in some extreme backwater while riding my bike across USA and finding vicious on the jukebox. This was 1990. We played it like 3 times. Otoh we played a disco stones song like 3 times too, so, good drunk times.

that's real banjo bro (Hunt3r), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

Walk on the Wild Side!

you're going home in a crispy ambulance (cajunsunday), Wednesday, 13 February 2013 18:10 (thirteen years ago)

Satelite. Bowie's backing, awesome. It's a pretty great record.

Tranformer is one of the few of my dad's old records I picked up on while still living at home. Reminds me of blasting the stereo throughout the house, pretty much continuosly, for years, while shooting the shit with my brother. It's a miracle our mom didn't throw that stereo out. Stooges, Turbonegro, early Weezer, all bring back that feeling. Good times.

'Vicious', although this album is very much classic from beginning to end.

Listening to this for the first time. Much prefer zippy version of "Andy's Chest" on VU.

obv I've heard "Perfect Day" before (Trainspotting sndtrk?) but not real familiar with it. Even with the strings and pianner he sounds VICIOUS at heart.

"Hangin' Round" is delish!

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2013 00:52 (twelve years ago)

has 'perfect day' supplanted 'walk on the wild side' as his most well known song? or at least most well known solo song, 'sweet jane' may be well known than either. probably not - i still hear 'walk on the wild side' on oldies radio and the only time i hear 'perfect day' is thru other media - movies, ads, tv, commercials (including just now, a playstation ad during the bulls-heat game that might not have annoyed me normally but stung this week). i could see it being the case eventually though.

balls, Wednesday, 30 October 2013 01:04 (twelve years ago)

it's hard to believe "Make Up" is only 3 minutes long. lol tuba

I've missed nearly all those licensings of "PD" post-Trainspotting

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 30 October 2013 01:10 (twelve years ago)

John Allen on FMU played whole of Stockholm Live '74 this morning, can't say i cared for how he was singing this stuff there

Awesome.

The Olde, Old, Very Olde Man. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 3 February 2026 18:38 (three months ago)

Lou's voice is so good here, Live 1969 quality. I've come to the conclusion that Lou's (live) vocals really took a nosedive when he stopped playing guitar and then, by the time he'd started playing guitar again, he'd forgotten how to play guitar and sing at the same time.
