Rodigan, for sure. The Kiss FM show was massive influence on a teenage me.

mmmm, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 12:27 (twelve years ago)

oh for sure.
this is a tuff call as rodigans recent shows on radio2 were truly excellent, just that nothing beats seeing derek rock the minidiscs in a club setting.

i love the fact Derek uses minidiscs. there's a nice two-part docu somewhere online that talks about him using all the major UK bus routes to drink a pint of real ale in every Wetherspoons in the country, playing shows wherever he went.

Derek for me. Top chap, although you see far less of him since the smoking ban.

This is horrible and sad but at the same time, at least they've found him. Can't imagine what it must have been like for the family just not knowing where he was all this time, and they had presumed him dead by this point.

I read he was something of a rambler so he may have just collapsed in the woods but if so he must have been way off any kind of well-trod path.

apparently he used to get the bus up towards where his remains have been found. Being somewhat familiar with that bit of Bristol, there's lots of urban edgelands (light industry, shopping malls, motorways and large roads etc.) round there in which it would be quite easy to get lost within and be out of site of anyone passing, particularly if you were a bit infirm.

yes I'm glad they found him at last. not so pleased to hear about his death though. I once had the chance to meet him as I was djing after him on a local bill and he was a really lovely chap.
