set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 19:57 (twelve years ago)

Does is count if the Furs specifically UN-punked it up for the movie?

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:00 (twelve years ago)

Also, not even ten in the list yet and we already have a dupe.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:01 (twelve years ago)

"Pet Semetary" is one of my favorite Ramones songs, the production is pretty dated but the melody is haunting to me, and there's a certain sadness about it that crept into some of their songs...like the line "I don't want to live my life again" sounds really mournful to me

downton arby (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:18 (twelve years ago)

lovedolls superstar?
sid & nancy?
rivers edge?

^ can't actually remember what the theme tunes for these were

Jaap and roids (NickB), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:23 (twelve years ago)

seem like likely candidates though

Jaap and roids (NickB), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:24 (twelve years ago)

River's Edge has a melancholy score and a bunch of speed metal for the sdtk. no punk.

TerrorVision - The Fibonaccis

there were chinchillas, these weird little rat animals, in cages (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:25 (twelve years ago)

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:27 (twelve years ago)

thought that the wipers (and possibly the circle jerks) were on the rivers edge soundtrack?

Jaap and roids (NickB), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:28 (twelve years ago)

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:29 (twelve years ago)

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:30 (twelve years ago)

oh it looks like it was the wipers and AGENT ORANGE bringing the punk to rivers edge

Jaap and roids (NickB), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:32 (twelve years ago)

Welcome to my world of proses (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:32 (twelve years ago)

Jaap and roids (NickB), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:33 (twelve years ago)

Lovedoll Superstar is Redd Kross doing a song called...Lovedoll Superstar. It's kinda punky but not really. Also not as good as their theme for "1976".

Ladies and Gentlemen The Fabulous Stains had that song by the Ex-Pistols with Ray Winstone instead of Johnny Rotten that was hammered to death throughout the movie. I think it's "Join the Professionals" - not a great song but good punk credentials.

everything, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:37 (twelve years ago)

sid & nancy theme was a joe strummer song (love kills). famously, alex cox wasn't allowed to use any of the pistols music in it - kind of a similar situation to the absence of beatles music in backbeat

Jaap and roids (NickB), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:38 (twelve years ago)

lean on me had GNR on the title sequence but maybe that's a stretch?

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 20:42 (twelve years ago)

I seem to recall the end credits of Full Metal Jacket had Sid Vicious's My Way

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 21:49 (twelve years ago)

No wait, that's Goodfellas. Never mind.
