Your Drug Scene

What drugs do you have in your city/town? How easy are they to get? How common is drug use? Have you noticed changes in trends? How does your society or legal system view usage, peddlers and addicts? Sex and Rock and Roll have been well covered...

Somebody should start a thread on "things that are less interesting than drug scenes" because I can't think of any.

It's not the most fascinating topic, but not entirely uninteresting either. I think what inspired this thread was that a friend of mine (who is a friend of the Demon Weed) hasn't been able to find any said weed for a month now, despite having 3 or 4 different sources. She suspects the War on Terra and the increased security at the US/Mexico border is to blame. Yet I have another friend (more of an acquaintance) who does coke and could easily have more delivered before sundown. Interesting market dynamics.

Also a neighborhood just blocks from me is now Crack Central, when it was clean just months ago. This couple with reports I've read about "crack is back" and an inreasing usage of drugs (mainly cocaine) among yuppie types in the area make me wonder why and how certain drugs and their popularity ebbs and flows. Is it a fashion things, demand bubbling up from withing society, or increased supply and marketing from outside? etc etc.

You've proved my point.

I did coke a couple weeks ago and had a pretty unpleasant time, as is usually the case. But it's extremely popular and very accessible, especially around industry peeps. I'll stick to Whip-Its... 33 seconds of bliss, for fifty cents.

US steps up military aid to Columbia = more coke smuggling = more crack in the cities. Not to mention coke is the "80s" drug, and with all this electro bullshit and the New New wave of Interpol/the Strokes, ad nauseum, coke must seem pretty "hip" to certain morons.

Coke's a bullshit drug.

minneapolis is defintely in the midst of a severe marijuana shortage. is this really due to tighter border controls?

Ha! - the gov't basically tosses aside the drug war to devote manpower, attention, etc. towards fighting terrorism and ends up gaining ground in the drug war. What a country!
