I have a major spot in my heart for Natures Fury. Strikes a good balance of party jams and hardman bangers.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 8 February 2013 22:23 (twelve years ago)

I think their debut is one of the most underrated rap albums of all-time. OPP sort of drowned out the rest of the goodness.

nicky lo-fi, Friday, 15 February 2013 20:19 (twelve years ago)

yeah probably, and hip hop hooray too.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:23 (twelve years ago)

that's from the 2nd one.

nicky lo-fi, Friday, 15 February 2013 20:25 (twelve years ago)

Right, just saying in general that those couple of tracks are pretty much all they are known for. People generally cant see passed those, or just never check.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:32 (twelve years ago)

With a couple additions (Jamboree) their greatest hits would be all time.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:34 (twelve years ago)

yeah, Treach MC should have been a huge star. He's got as much talent as anybody ever, as far as delivery.

maybe they needed some more consistent writing and/or production?

nicky lo-fi, Friday, 15 February 2013 20:38 (twelve years ago)

Maybe bigger named producers? idk

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:41 (twelve years ago)

Their big singles were melodic and infectious hook-lead tracks for parties but thats not really the sound of their overall catalog. Maybe they should have gone one way or the other? like people couldn't take them seriously as hard street rappers cos of OPP or whatever.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:45 (twelve years ago)

guard your grill off the juice soundtrack was great

You dipped into NbN discography much?

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:55 (twelve years ago)

i mean obv i loved the hell out of the first two at the time, and bought poverty's paradise but didn't listen to it as much as i probably should of, i used to kinda buy stuff out of some weird feeling of obligation i guess

but yeah after that i haven't heard much except some video from a couple years ago that was gully as fuck and i was like o_O they still got it!

oh and MTV played "feel me flow" quite a bit at the time, and it always was on when i was eating breakfast, loved that video

'glown' with the king (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 15 February 2013 20:57 (twelve years ago)

I generally shy away from the term 'underrated' but I think it applies to Treach for sure. Guys kinda got it all and never ever comes up in conversations as top respected emcees. Yoke the Joker, Chain Remains, Uptown Anthemand Jamboree all kinda show his range.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 21:38 (twelve years ago)

xpost was just surprised feel me flow was number 1!

'glown' with the king (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 15 February 2013 21:55 (twelve years ago)

Yeah I thought it would be 3 in that lineup.

skeet-skeet-gate (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 15 February 2013 21:57 (twelve years ago)

I had the first four of these, cosign on Treach as a very very very good rapper - I do think just as an album the first one's still the best, soooo many jams on that

Treach is probably the best MC that never gets regularly mentioned in lists of great MCs

It's not delivery, it's Adorno! (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 14 February 2018 18:17 (seven years ago)

definitely.

It's time to erase a face in force in fact an inferno
Rise in my eyes, these twin 9'sll make em learn though
You poppin, plottin, plannin, half-steppin, threatenin
The streets clap loud like like thunderCLOUDS with the weapon

five years pass...

how did treach calling out jermaine dupri by name on the lead single whilst claiming to have ghostwritten "jump" by kriss kross just slip the fuck by me all these years?

if you need evidence of how much clout treach had in the 90s, there it is: completely eviscerate one of the most successful producers of the era and everyone just kinda goes, "yeah we better just play tf outta feel me flow and pretend like everything's just fine."

i really liked his 2pac tribute as well-
