Back in the days when I was a Lucinda Williams fan, I saw her at one of those Vin Scelsa hosted events called "In Their Own Words: A Bunch Of Songwriters Sittin' Around Singing ." There was one part where he would ask each performer what songwriter do you most admire and what song of theirs do you wish you had written and would you perform it for us now. She picked this one, although she didn't actually know who wrote it. Some old Southern gentleman who may have been a record company suit supplied her with the name "Hank Cochran."
