i like this album

I like it too. Nothing as good as The Fall but I think the rest will grow in time.

Need to hear this - how does it compare to other Robin Hannibal projects like Parallel Dance Ensemble/Quadron/etc?

do you guys have promos or is this available for us plebs to hear somewhere?

It's been out there since early January, maybe even earlier than that. I was surprised the other day to find out it's not out until March.

All last year, they were keeping their identities secret. When they disclosed them a few months ago that Robin Hannibal was behind it, I went "Duh! OF COURSE he's behind this!" I love it, naturally.

Dude can't do any wrong, imo.

Milosh is the singer in Rhye. Robin Hannibal is the producer/musician.

What about the other two?

Parallel Dance Ensemble is Robin and singer named Coco. Quadron is Robin and singer named Coco. The Cocos are not the same. Parallel Dance Ensemble is a little bit more club-friendly, early electro-funk inspired. Quadron is a little bit more removed, headphone music.

Non+ is probably my least favorite of his projects, but I don't not like it. It's just kind of ponderous electronics.

Had no idea the Rhye vocalist was Milosh. Vocals are improved almost beyond recognition from his III album.

Agreed but tbh for a sec if it felt like mbv sounds I'd consider sourcing a better form of lubricant. I guess amyl might make the whole exercise a bit "To Here Knows When" though.

this album didn't stand out to me the first few times i listened to it. but it's really growing on me. the instrumentation is more live and pronounced on this album & it kinda reminded me of what i wanted the last jamie woon record to be... a kind of muted neo-soul. this is warm and well produced, a little aqueous in an embrya way maybe. idk how memorable the songwriting will be in the long run (i struggled w/ this w/ the last record) but it's very very nice to listen to. and "please" is as good as any of the big songs from the last record imo.

The last Rhye album just made me want to listen to Quadron but these new songs are gorgeous in their own right.

apparently robin left the band before the release of the last album which i had no idea about until very recently. this one was milosh and various collaborators.

Weird, I didn't know anything about that either. Hopefully that means he has some spare time to make another Quadron album. Avalanche is a masterpiece.

Checking out his old Milosh albums on Spotify today and it's pleasant work listening. Kind of like old Telefon Tel Aviv-style idm with vocals, not quite as lush as that but better than the TTA records that actually had vocals.

The first one, with more lo-fi home recordings of bottles as percussion etc, is maybe the most distinctive?

not a lot of variety in his vox throughout his discography is my main gripe. he overuses the fade-in mmmmmmmmmmmmms and ooooooooooooos too much.

I also learned that he was a jazz drummer in college and played drums on the new record, so I like that obv.

finally got around to the new album and it's super lovely. about as smooth and warm as its possible to get and the way the songs slowly swell with the strings is gorgeous. "horny talk talk" otm lol
