Reminds me a bit of funky acid breaks, just with a sequenced beat.
― Sanpaku, Friday, 22 February 2013 03:39 (twelve years ago)
Issakidis of The Micronauts had great, if unprolific solo career. Check out his Explicit/Hotter Now 12" for the closest he came to this sound with his solo career. Though I'd probably tip the In Love 12" or one of his remixes on just straight quality.

thanks! will check that stuff out. probably should see if there is other micronauts stuff that i like as well.
sadly, that youtube does not do the sound of this thing justice at all. the 12 inch sounds soooooooooo friggin' good. if you see it somewhere BUY IT.

funky acid break a really good genre name for the jag single by the way.
and if any people from the future find this thread please feel free to recommend anything that might fall under funkyacidbreak as a descriptive term. i'll be alive for awhile.

I bought this on accident a few years thinking it was the psychonauts. It's very different from the psychonauts.

I remember being so deep into "The Jag" in college and being disappointed they didn't put out a whole lot more like it.

wait, i'm thinking of the micranots, aren't i? yeah.

I got into them around 95 when The Chemical Brothers used to play The Jazz and Daft Punk remixed Get Funky Get Down, then there were a bunch of great, frazzling remixes (OMD, Underworld) and then I lost track of them. I like their ridiculous acid noise. The Chems were great at rooting out records like this.

The Micronauts I remember.

I got these instead of Star Wars figurines, and was hence shunned by playmates.

oh man I had those too! Haven't thought about them in decades.
