Section 25 -- Dark Light

I know electricsound posted a bit on the other thread (and has been keeping up with the earlier singles more than me) but there's almost a tradition of a new thread for each album now...

And this is kinda a crazy great surprise! It's now all Bethany on vocals, obviously, and it's almost like there's yet another new phase of the band as a result. It's like it's this constant family affair, forever, some here, some gone now. At point it's their most...sunshiney album, I'd guess? And that's not to knock Bethany at all, it's just that she has her own approach to things and embraces it to the full, as does Vin and the rest of the band.

got a great copy of 1980 hicks from the sticks comp last week though! canadian copy too so it has the rarer cover with the little kids on it. such a great comp.

Ha, was just reading up on that compilation a bit.

Anyway, yeah, they just have steadily kept at it. It's interesting hearing a version of the band that's all female vocals start to stop, there's enough of that aggressive electronic tension cropping up to make it all feel very Section 25 still, so it's a good continuation of the recent albums on that front while still being its own thing.

(Should say that there's a couple of dude vocal bits but they are in the minority.)

i'm enjoying it, but as i said on the other thread the main connection i'm making with it is latterday Bis, though less cutesy
