i can't believe it's not madonna: now with less kabbalah water

list songs /post videos that sound like madonna. it doesn't matter who ripped off who. i guess i am more interested in the sound of the older material since the newer stuff turned into a well worn formula (lady gaga, gwen stefani, katy perry, etc) but maybe somebody could find something interesting in there.

Sandra (aka Sandra Cretu/Sandra Ann Lauer) was a kind of contemporaneous Euro equivalent of early Madonna. Anyone who hasn't heard In The Heat Of The Night and (I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena is missing out. On the other hand, her cover of Talk Talk's Such A Shame was pretty awful.

Don't know if you've seen this elsewhere Dan, but Alice Cohen from the Vels has been active in the underground NY scene. I met her when she was playing solo keyboards and singing and strange electroclash-esque parties. These days she's down with the bushwick kids and doing really cool stuff. Both music and video.

yeah, we did have a similar coversation on another thread, and I checked out her Pink Keys release; it's really excellent. Listening to it again now!
