Question is, how many of these groups were talked about on here at the time...

As a list, the 'medium-hit' rate is pretty decent, so props..

Then again, who are they?

SUNSTORM
The only outfit we found by this name was one featuring former Rainbow singer Joe Lynn Turner (ask your ‘rents). The one in this issue was a Los Angeles-based space-rock band that had a contact website called comeongohigher.com—which you can now buy!

lol

Loraxx is my favorite "did nothing" band of the bunch.

THE SHINS
Also known as “that band that got famous because of Garden State.” Still together. Still making music. Only now they look like grown-up hipsters. [BM]

As someone else pointed out in the comments section, the three non-James Mercer original members of the band might take issue with this statement.

also didn't they look like grown-up hipsters in 2001?

Some great bands in this list, actually. But whatever did happen to those Matmos chaps?

i'm not surprised that bright eyes is still around, but I am surprised that the only album by him I could stand (fevers and mirrors) was the last thing I'd ever like by him and was 10 years ago.
