"for him to defile the music of the man who is probably the greatest jazz musician that has ever lived by spewing his lame-ass, jive, pseudo bluesy, out-of-tune, noodling, wimped out, fucked up playing all over one of the great Louis's tracks ..."

"No."
Hell, even Michael Bolton had the decency to cut his fuckin' hair.

It is totally nostalgia talking but "Songbird" is something I could jam on repeat for like an hour. So many hours of hearing it on car trips as a child – it and Enya and Yanni were the only things my dad would play – just makes this a part of the Rocky Mountain countryside for me. Plus those background synth arpeggios would fit right in to some fake Myst puzzle game that I'd spend hours on.

My mom got this job selling cars once and her employer paid $500 for this set of three cassette tapes called SUBLIMINAL CAR SALES. They all sounded like variations on "Songbird" with ocean and wind sounds in the background. It came with all these warnings like "do not operate heavy machinery while listening" "do not drive while listening" "do not perform complex tasks while listening" so maybe "Songbird" is this post-opiate super drug, you know? If it's that dangerous?

I have absolutely no problem at all with Kenny G. Pat Metheny can go fuck himself.

wow. when i saw this thread, i thought "i guess i'll tell the stupid story of how i forever connect kenny g with the end of the school day when i used to teach in china, that will be a valuable insight that most non-Chinese probably don't know about", but now i am instead thinking "i never dust. i will never dust."

^same, though be warned, unlike reading Carl Wilson's Celine Dion book, you will of course have to hear quite a bit of his music
