trisha is unquestionably fuller, realer, more powerful, it's not a rhetorical question with her - but the production is dated, cluttered and wandering, and once the sax comes in you're in trouble somewhat

leann is the cleaner karaoke versh, less at stake, kinda sung with a perfect bright smile, but still; maybe through self-elision better delivers the seed of the song for the listener to cultivate themselves? takeoff and launch are comparable on both (ooh idk though now i've said that), leann possibly nails the crucial survive high note better, or at least the song lets it hang more effectively

For many years this and "Without You" and "All By Myself" sorta ran together in my mind as some kind of chest beating megamix in which this was kinda the less tumultuous but deeper interregnum.

LeeAnn Rimes version, the gigantic hit, got me through many a work day listening to the lame work station in the 90s. Trisha Yearwood version, no way is that as good. Thank goodness LeeAnn Rimes version not sullied by connection with Con Air.

The funny thing is I always thought this was what "Celine Dion" was. I like "Because You Loved Me" too. Listening to them on purpose just now, I don't think they sing alike or anything, but you know all that carpet and DOS programs and printouts and stuff messes with the mind.
