Dreams where you discover (or, hear) records that do not exist..

"In the shoemaker's shop" / "The happy wanderer" - Ivor Cutler (a 78rpm record, with about 45 degrees of surface missing, but still playable)

I mentioned on the Durutti Column thread about regular dreams of Factory boxed cassettes that don't exist. I also used to dream of different non-existent colour combinations of the original LP sleeve of OMD's debut album.

i dream about imaginary records all the time :( sometimes they are 78s, sometimes they are LPs.

intriguingly, they are never 45s.

Many years ago, I 'found' JimSav's original version of "Put Away" by The Fall, on the original black/white 60s UK columbia label...

I once dreamt I heard a better follow up to "Blackberry Way" than "Curly", which isn't hard.

I once had a dream where Weird Al Yankovic gave me a Sparks remix album where every track was remixed by the Japanese group Plus-Tech Squeeze Box.

I once dreamed I was looking thru a stack of LPs at a friend's house, and my attention was caught by one by The Germs. I thought, that's a weird but cool name. Years later I remembered the dream for some reason, did some research and discovered a real band with that name. They didn't exist when I had the dream, though.

I never dream about specific records but I had a recurring dream about the perfect record shop. Where I walked in and there'd always be a weird late 80's crossover / metalcore record at the front of the rack obscuring a treasure trove of everything I could ever want or need. I t was on the same block in Glasgow that Missing Records had about 3 different locations during the late 80s / early 90s but the block was a little longer and you walked past them to find mecca.
