my impulse is four tet, partly for range and partly for longevity. in my head i also lump fridge in with four tet.

i think burial's got a few tracks that are much better than anything four tet has done but four tet has a large and impressive body of work

fuck an xx and a hot chip imo

XX rulez

I like the Four Tet I've heard but I've never followed up on them

Burial is growing on me after years of leaving me totally cold

I couldn't identify any of the others by song

my tendency is to go for the XX but the four tet remix of XX's VCR is probably the ultimate manifestation so i dunno.

xpost That was the Brit School in Croydon

Yeah that's the Brit School, but they basically train students to become pop stars. From what I can see there's something that appears to be more organic happening here.

Who's the music teacher at this place then? Because that's a ridiculously high batting average for a normal state school. Although if you factor out The Maccabees (and Xan Tyler, who I've never heard) there's certainly an, ahem, uniformity of approach here.

Voting Four Tet anyway. Btw Fridge are as much Adem as they are Four Tet really.

And some other guy who always gets forgotten.

iirc Joe and Alexis from Hot Chip took over the lunchtime music club after Kieran Hebden (who was a year older) left. That's a good lunchtime club.

Interesting 2008 (pre-xx) feature about the school and its music teacher:

voted fridge. wouldnt have said i ever felt too strongly about them but i def thought they were pretty cool in my teen days and seemingly amassed their and kh's complete 90s discography

weirdly i can still remember exactly how 'anglepoised' goes
