Mud on the Tires in a heartbeat.

"A Man Don't Have To Die" wasn't a single? Huh.

誤訳侮辱, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 13:37 (twelve years ago)

I still think "Alcohol" is overrated, especially if you know the work of alcoholism poet laureate Toby Keith.

I may prefer his album tracks! "A Man Don't Have to Die" def but also "If Love Was a Plane."

Any one of these in descending order:

Water
Mud on the Tires
American Saturday Night
When I Get Where I'm Going (with Dolly Parton)
The World
Remind Me (with Carrie Underwood)

I could have easily voted for Water too.

My favorite of his Songs About Stuff.

my personal POX without listening is like:

Me Neither
Waitin' On A Woman
Whiskey Lullaby
He Didn't Have To Be
Anything Like Me
Southern Comfort Zone
Ticks
American Saturday Night
I'm Gonna Miss Her
Then

xp: lol

damn forgot "Ticks."

I'm wondering whether I should relisten to "I'm Still a Guy," which juuuuust manages to avoid straight-guy defensiveness because he's such an ingratiating singer.

They Might Be Giants joke about how they're "running out of nouns" to write songs about, BP could have that problem someday

From the ones I've heard, my least favorite has to be online, but I kinda trust that Brad has done worse too.

I like "I'm Still A Guy" fine. He at least concedes those "feminized" treands are "hip," but basically comes to the not entirely dismissive (though the music box motif doesn't help) conclusion that it's just not for him, for whom being a guy is forever rooted to guns and bushy eyebrows. Though I'm sure Brad has been styled on many an occasion. Just playing a character, you see ...

I don't mind "Online" either, terribly. As far as novelty songs go. No worse than "celebrity."

Tempted to vote "Letter to Me" because it turns me into a blubbering fool.

Still like "Alcohol" a lot, as well as "American Saturday Night" and "Welcome to the Future." As I recall, "He Didn't Have to Be" as sentimental as hell, but I like it. "Southern Comfort Zone" is my favorite cut from the new one.

Trying to remember what else I've heard. Both "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishing Song)" and "Ticks" are Brad trying to do the sly ain't-I-a-dog thing, but it ultimately comes off as dumb. And the video for "Online" is worth watching for Jason Alexander (before his stellar work with Nickelback), but it's otherwise kind of a throwaway.

Start A Band (with Keith Urban)

this seems like excellent advice

Call me at **BITCOIN (DJP), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:15 (twelve years ago)

despite my wife really getting into modern country the last few years, I believe I've still only heard "Ticks" and "Waiting On A Woman" - actually I think I saw "Online" but I can't remember the song behind Jason Alexander's damnable antics.

da croupier, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:18 (twelve years ago)

there may well be ten singles better than "waiting on a woman" but i'm voting for that because I refuse to let that last verse get a goose-egg

Tempted to vote "Letter to Me" because it turns me into a blubbering fool.

This is a great song, but I ultimately like the rockers better than the sappy stuff.

how's life, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:20 (twelve years ago)

probably American Saturday Night.

Jamie_ATP, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:19 (twelve years ago)

songs that i hadn't listened to or thought much of before that i am enjoying today: I'm Still A Guy, This Is Country Music, Old Alabama

some dude, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 16:36 (twelve years ago)

Mud On The Tires is his best run of singles imo

Voted "Whiskey Lullaby". Beautiful tune.

I sure underrated "Letter to Me." Probably in my top three today.

i like his sap, but that one hasn't hit me very hard

some dude, Saturday, 20 April 2013 19:55 (twelve years ago)

I liked your list, ship. You made me relisten to "Toothbrush," which I forgot was terrific. Still prefer the flawed "Remind Me" (flawed because it's a minute too long) to "Oh Love" though.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 20 April 2013 20:14 (twelve years ago)

Yeah "remind me" has been growing on me
