No One Is To Blame POLL: 1985 vs. 1986?

Howard Jones recorded one version for Dream Into Action. Howard Jones recorded a second version with Phil Collins and Hugh Padgham for release as a single. The first is small and intimate. The second is glossy and big (with Phil on bg vocals, even).

Will anyone vote for the second version?

I may have overestimated the original's popularity. I prefer it, though.

I guess I don't have any real problems with the arrangement in the single version, but the vocal in the original makes more of an impact imo.

he's such a wuss. NO ONE EVER IS TO BLAME eh? It's like he works for a university department of student affairs.

One of the first songs I heard on MTV, in the same block with Locked In by Judas Priest, Let's Go All the Way by Sly Fox, and Innocent Eyes by Graham Nash. I wish I still had the tape I made of that with my little hand-held cassette deck.

I saw that Nash song in an early '86 Hot 100 chart recently: a total flop.

But there was an awesome video with Jack Tripper as the dad!

Dad (to kids going on a date): Where are you going tonight?
Boy: Bowling!
Girl (at the same time): Movies!
Dad and Mom: Bowling Movies?!!?

Definitely the second version. I like the tick-tock percussion, and the production is so much richer.
