I made myself a miniLP CD for the car, and this morning had it playing on the School-run (return to the valley of..)

Alice was most miffed as a classmate had asked her if she knew anything about Rock music. "I was listening to Rock Music before you were born, probably!" she blasted back, accurately.

"Oh yeah? Go on then, name one track by Paramore then!"

She has now learned to rhde..

Have never heard of this CD but kind of an amazing tracklist. Tempted to throw the underrated "Love -> Building on Fire" a vote but let's face it there is nothing on here, indeed almost nothing anywhere, I love as much as "New Rose," so "New Rose."

This is what I did. It seemed to me the most "new wave," rather than punk or proto-punk, thing on the list. New Rose, Sonic Reducer and Cherry Bomb in a three-way tie for second.

There's a section about this album in Julian Cope's autobiog "Head-On", his mate Cally was involved in compiling it.

Apparently, this LP's main 'attract' was the Patti Smith track, and the Skyhooks were the token "no-mark theatrical rock band" added so as to not make it too perfect.

(It's by no means the worst track on the record... Oh hang on.. mmmm ... Well, if it is, that's not saying much as all the other tracks are great and that one is .. OK?)
