slint - spiderland
double dagger - 333

siouxsan sarandon (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 29 April 2013 05:34 (twelve years ago)

I never bought too many of these, but X's Los Angeles/Wild Gift 2-on-1 got a TON of play.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 29 April 2013 05:34 (twelve years ago)

"Our CDRs are handcrafted by experienced European elves, dipped in gold and encased in an emerald band."

Ned Raggett, Monday, 29 April 2013 13:47 (twelve years ago)

regarding commercial releases, Big Star's #1 Record/Radio City and Beach Boys' Sunflower/Surf's Up are among my favorites

George Jones - Grand Tour/Alone Again is another great one

regarding answering the actual question, this is probably a boring response but Rubber Soul and Revolver flow together nicely

billstevejim, Monday, 29 April 2013 14:09 (twelve years ago)

slint - spiderland
double dagger - 333

IMO Spiderland would fit perfectly with June of 44's "Engine Takes to Water."

billstevejim, Monday, 29 April 2013 14:14 (twelve years ago)

Umm, if you delete some of the more experimental tracks on the Unrest side for the sake of the 80 minute time constraints I'd say:

Unrest - Imperial f.f.r.r.
Lilys - Eccsame the Photon Band

slint - spiderland

ha! i had this on a cassette back in the day because someone gave it to me (i traded him for something else, can't remember what, maybe a tribute to the minutemen?)

Evan, Monday, 29 April 2013 15:03 (twelve years ago)

nice retro thread

Pingu Unchained (dog latin), Monday, 29 April 2013 15:28 (twelve years ago)

commercial releases are permissible; I deliberately made the thread title as broad as possible

some recent favs:
* Beggars' Banquet --> Soft Boys, Underwater Moonlight
* Jay Reatard, Blood Visions --> The Thermals, More Parts Per Million
* Les Savy Fav, 3/5 --> Sleater-Kinney, One Beat

(the last two LSF albums also fit on a single CD... and that's a damn good CD)

Excelsior twilight. Harpsichord wind through the trees. (bernard snowy), Monday, 29 April 2013 19:35 (twelve years ago)

Evan, Monday, 29 April 2013 19:40 (twelve years ago)

bernard given that list i rly think you should do spiderland + 333

There used to be tons of cassettes like this -- Talking Heads 77/More Songs, and the Jam's All Mod Cons/Setting Sons spring to mind.
