The album sampler on that bandcamp is great; like Tuneyards with some Matias Aguayo thrown in.
Highly recommended.

Thanks, I'll check her out -- I was intrigued by a show preview I read recently but forgot to follow up.

four weeks pass...

So n/a and I and DJP are into her now, too, so ... revive?

Murder in the Rue McClanahan (jaymc), Friday, 31 May 2013 17:07 (twelve years ago)

I gave it an earnest try earlier this week...both her own stuff and her cover of "Psycho Killer" at AV Club...but nope. Not yet, at least.

I'm hosting a singer/songwriter panel at Housing Works in NYC that she's speaking at in July along with Wynter Gordon and some more folks tbd.

Interesting song choice for a video. Was listening to the album over the weekend and hadn't before noticed the similarity to Battles in places. That song's a good example. Btw, "Cherry Tree" is probably my favorite, though the album has plenty of jams.

she's doing videos for much of the album.
apparently, she's showing up in a new yorker piece fairly soon.

Ha! It did in mine a few weeks ago during a '2-out-of-30' week and I was very thankful for it. Then last week there was 'Black Stars' - also wild and excellent. Excited to see the new album's up!

Yes, this new album is really good. Reminds me a little of Marnie Stern...less shredding, but lots of very intricate melodies and weird experimentation all the same.

I was just browsing my local show listings to see if anything interesting was happening tonight and I happened upon her stuff. Suddenly quite stoked to see her tonight!

...and she/they put on one of the best shows I've seen all year. Opener Lido Pimienta was fucking great as well.

already have my tickets for this week, in a crazy small venue, excited to see her so close up but ashamed for my city that she's not booked in a bigger room

Guayaquil (eephus!), Sunday, 4 September 2016 13:24 (eight years ago)

The TO show I saw her at was only half full at most, a damn shame

this shows my music-reading is ilx-biased i guess but i think of her as fairly famous, is that not so?

Guayaquil (eephus!), Tuesday, 6 September 2016 19:17 (eight years ago)

she's touring for another month, how do we make sure that everyone on ilx who lives in one of these cities goes to see this show?
