Me?

the icarus line - shouty l.a. punk. i'm reminded of my skateboard punk phase .... (when writing an article about joe foster and his eternal brilliance)

ivor cutler - ludo (started to wash up)

mum and dad - castle heights (cause I got the e.p in the charity shop and any band who names their song - children with psychic powers is alright with me)

alfie - a word in your ear - whilst i read richard ford's independance day in the bath.

and i'm about to put on of montreal to do the washing up.....

doomi, Saturday, 5 October 2002 15:58 (twenty-three years ago)

nick cave's "into my arms",
kaito's "saturday and sunday",

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 5 October 2002 16:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 5 October 2002 16:20 (twenty-three years ago)

i passed up buying a copy of o superman at the charity shop. it's no 'lovin' is easy'...is it, Mark IS IT MARK?

BAHAHAHAH...

doomi, Saturday, 5 October 2002 16:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I'm a sickie here so I've just been lying in bed all morning staring out at the lake with the tunes on. It's just mp3s going at random now (as I'm too pathetically weakened to be switching CDs), RIGHT now it's a Lambchop song. The CDs I had on earlier were Psychedelic Furs - All of this and Nothing, Disc one of the Nettwerk records retrospective box set and some of Split Enz - Time and Tide.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 5 October 2002 16:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I've heard The Logic Song by Scooter 3 times today and I love it.

toraneko (toraneko), Saturday, 5 October 2002 16:44 (twenty-three years ago)

"Bandwagonesque" by Teenage Fanclub. On my walkman. I've been working all day, so haven't had a chance to listen to much.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Saturday, 5 October 2002 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

John Lennon (some songs from Walls and Bridges, back on my stereo now, actually--not something I particularly like to listen to straight through), after listening to "Something" from Abbey Road. Before that: the timba compilation I've been listening to, plus a couple songs from the India/Eddie Palmieri album. (The Beatles are my token rock band.)

Rockist Scientist, Saturday, 5 October 2002 18:07 (twenty-three years ago)

What the hell does he say at the end of the song right after he says "Like a rolling stone"? After about three decades of listening, I still don't know. My brother's vinyl copy of this album used to start skipping at this point, which made it even more annoying.

Rockist Scientist, Saturday, 5 October 2002 18:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Bits of Malcolm Middleton's solo album, having listened to the whole of it last night. Other than that, spent most of the day hanging round Digbeth, which is A Bad Thing.

But at the moment, I have I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness going in my brain, alternating with No Danger by The Delgados. It's a very nice sensation.

Mr Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 5 October 2002 18:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I woke up to Bpitchcontrols "Berlin 2001" comp. I had breakfast
to Serge Gainsbourg's "Aux Armes Et Caetera" and now I'm about to take a nap to some Theo Parrish mix *can't remember which one - it's on a blank CD-R*. Ahhh, a life of sloth.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Saturday, 5 October 2002 18:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Rroland, the 'other version' of Suede's ' A New Morning, Beck 'SeaChange', Komeda, Jay Jay Johanson, Gene 'Libertine' and Momus 'PingPong'

Dr. C (Dr. C), Saturday, 5 October 2002 18:59 (twenty-three years ago)

A Nairn (moretap), Saturday, 5 October 2002 21:10 (twenty-three years ago)

from about 8 am this morning until 4 pm this afternoon, the large majority of which i was trying to get some desperately needed sleep, i got to listen to a PA system about 15 feet away from my bedroom window blasting doowop, motown and that "zoot suit riot" song. fucking cranberry festival.

other than that, it's been the soundtracks to the mexican horror movie DVDs my girlfriend bought (kettle drums abound), and abruptum's "obscuritatem advoco amplectere me".

your null fame (yournullfame), Saturday, 5 October 2002 21:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Too bad The Darkness is a lame fucking cheese dick band that is so fucking evil i would burn my record collection if it was stopped but it's not to be, as the lame fat bitch decreed it releasable...blah. The Darkness is a worm from Andrew WK's ass.

just got back from delta/big leaves and am now listening to my girl and her friend sing 'freda payne's band of gold'...

Big Black - Rich Man's Eight Track
The Melvins - The Maggot
The Melvins - Electroretard

earlnash, Sunday, 6 October 2002 03:41 (twenty-three years ago)

The upcoming GYBE!: a complete and total waste of my time.

Demons Don't Dance: The Residents succumb to Deserter's Songs-envy...no, no, don't GAG! Not yet, anyway. There is immediate attraction -- very pop but VERY miserable -- I'm not sure if this is good or not.

Lots of j-pop: the dance-pop gurls are out of this world; the boys with guitars would do better doing anything else, even aping Creed.

Two Merzbow albums: you know the score.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Sunday, 6 October 2002 03:48 (twenty-three years ago)

-John Squire's new solo rekkid. His voice takes some getting used to and, frankly, if he hadn't been in the Stone Roses I wouldn't care. But the fact that all the songs seem to be about wanting Brownie to forgive him makes it pretty interesting.

I've had that record for awhile, not sure if i enjoy it or not ... there are not many songs that actually felt like you were being levitated in the summer sun like hour of the bewilderbeast - though - some of the production reminds me of the boss's born in the usa (and i do like the album)...

doom-e, Monday, 7 October 2002 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Listened to some *out-of-this-world* South American electronica, and if I could spell their name I would. Usually it's dreary sub-Ninja stuff that I hear from this scene, but this had my total attention.

I've had that record for awhile, not sure if i enjoy it or not ... there are not many songs that actually felt like you were being levitated in the summer sun like hour of the bewilderbeast - though - some of the production reminds me of the boss's born in the usa (and i do like the album)...

Yeah, the production definitely does have an early-'80s rock sort of thing going on (interesting with the recent bad '80s production thread I started on ILM :). From the 8k feed I was listening to, I think overall I'm going to like it. OTM on levitated in the summer sun moments. Seems to be what I like best about Damon... those moments of perfect pop.

Looking forward to seeing him in a few weeks time... I've said that his live shows are like going through the 5 stages of grief. Denial (he is NOT still playing!), anger (is he STILL playing!!), bargaining (I'm leaving after this song), depression (oh lord... he's still playing), and finally, of course, acceptance (he's still playing! Genius!).

Soon I will be in New Hampshire, and will be able to listen to WFNX (Boston) on a radio for the first time in years, and will probably bitch about how much it's changed since the early 90s.
