"Killer Parties"

Can't believe I'm already nostalgic for this record.

Great record. The Swish

Close call between Positive Jam and Killer Parties. Took me a while to warm up to this album.

most people are DJs.

I'm glad we're having this poll, and we should def follow up with polls for at least the next two albums.

Went with "Knuckles".

Can't believe I'm already nostalgic for this record.

^ Seems kinda meta. Somehow I was nostalgic for this record while I was listening to it when it first came out, but I'm also 41y.o.

I remember thinking - no, I still think - the lyrics on "Certain Songs" are so clever. The way he makes the careful listener feel like he's part of their little (us-against-the) world.

B-1 is for the good girls and it's "Only The Good Die Young"
C-9 is for the making eyes, it's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light"
B12 is for the speeders and
D4 is for the lovers
And the hard drugs are for the bartenders and the kitchen workers and the bartender's friends

Such a good album.

hmm will have to listen to this again before voting I think...

such a good album with a few beers.
love the insane over the top guitar solo at the end of 'most people are djs'.
going to have to think about this one as each song hits hard when in the mood.

Listening to Killer Parties when I'm driving my car makes me feel like I'm in a movie

Killer Parties is v good, but for me Sweet Payne is the class of this and all subsequent HS albums.

DJs, Certain Songs, and Knuckles are A grade. Though they don't like Knuckles themselves. Barfruit Blues is throwaway but kills on the live album. Killer Parties only works in front of an audience.

Sweet Payne is the one I love the best though.

If you tolerate Bis, then Kenickie will be next (ithappens), Thursday, 16 May 2013 15:52 (twelve years ago)

Who wants to poll Lifter Puller's Fiestas & Fiascos next?

After re-listening, went for Most People Are DJs, could have been any of the first 6 tracks though...

I voted "Certain Songs", but I'm 100% certain that my vote would change if I clicked on this four hours from now.

Was I thinking about Separation Sunday?

you came into the ER drinking gin from a jam jar
and the nurse is making jokes about the ER being like an after-bar

?

I don't know. Used to love this band though. Guess I'm not surprised I started it.

i love the throughline of nicknames through the whole albums

“sweet payne” stood out on a relisten recently, but “almost killed me” is still unfuckwithable

They're playing the MN state fair grandstand in September with Dillinger Four and Bob Mould. I'm intrigued.
