and "DLZ" gets my vote. Heard it in "Breaking Bad" last week – tremendous song, with the singer's outrage making up for dodgy NEVER YOU MIND DEATH-PROFESSOR nonsense

For me it's between DLZ, Halfway Home and Love Dog

Hearing it as someone who never clicked with TVOTR before (or indeed after), Halfway Home blew my mind but yeah, it's a solid album.

Only song I don't really like is the dreary Family Tree

a much better album than Return to Cookie Mountain, this.

Yep. Can't really get into Nine Types of Light either except for a couple of tunes.

It's astounding how well the lyrics resonate with BB, it almost could've been written about Walter White!

Anyway this is still my favourite album of theirs and I'll vote for Lover's Day which is one of my favourite album closers of recent years.

this record really hit me but it wasn't enough to get me into any of their others (save some enjoyable listening to the earlier ep stuff).

Previous record has much higher highs for me (the last two tracks, mostly)

This thread made me give Nine Types of Light another chance. It's actually a pretty great record, it just didn't live up to the previous two albums.

Does anyone else have a hard time not hearing "Family Tree" as the Love Theme from Rachel Getting Married?

I have a hard time hearing "Don't Let It Bring You Down" as the Spacey-Suvari love scene in American Beauty.

The lyrics to Red Dress are really, really good. I voted for Lovers Day though, such a perfect way to end this record. 'Yes dear of course there are miracles / under your sighs and moans / I'm gonna take you / i'm gonna take you / I'm gonna take you home!' Build up to final climax. Fin.

i'm cool with lovers day but it's kind of a hilarious boner fanfare esp in the context of "i was a lover" from the last album.

stork & owl got robbed though, that song is really pretty

Lover's Day is good but there are at least five better cuts and I'm kind of baffled by its victory.

I thought DLZ would sweep this FWIW, so I kind of tactically voted for Halfway Home.
