Neko Case vs. Laura Cantrell

Both somewhat 'countrified' in nice accessible way (to someone like myself who generally listens to nothing of this kind whatsoever), both had well-received albums in 2000 and new albums out at present. John Peel lurves them both. Ms Cantrell has "Queen of the coast" which is soul-scraping genius, Ms Case has "Twist the knife" which is same. Snippets off both new albums sound excellent, but am strapped for cash. Which to get first? And so on.

I prefer Neko, but I'm more familiar with her work. If you get a chance to see her live, go.

Man, I was all excited about the Laura Cantrell based on the famous people buzz, but it really fell flat for me. Maybe I should give it another listen. I would buy two copies of Neko before shelling out for Laura.

Neither, get the New Porngraphers which has Neko singing. Never mind that it has the worlds worst cover art.

five years pass...

I think Neko Case is more talented, and makes more exciting records.

Laura Cantrell is maybe one of the most boring singers currently working. Blech.
