Hmm, no thread for him, but I know he's got his admirers. tcote noted a new song from him has surfaced -- dedicated to his mom, and prime Prince/George Michael piano ballad mode is employed:

Love his one album a lot and listen to it often.

Interesting guy as far as seriously having disappeared off the face of the earth around 2006-2007.

Also interesting that he played all the instruments on his album and (I think) recorded it as well. Still hear him in Starbucks et al pretty often.

Kinda weird, just checked and I swore I had the album. At least I have some songs from it!

there was a mac demarco interview a few months back where he makes a leftfield comment about remy shand being underrated. i listened for the first time in years and mac was right. enjoying this thread.

I saw Andrew Loog Oldham give a talk in...2005 or so in Toronto, and Remy Shand was basically who he was excited about in current music at the time.

Oh, here it is, actually 2002:

You could publish that today and it would still be accurate.

I'll have to dig that album out for a reappraisal. I liked the "Rocksteady" song quite a bit at the time, but scarcely remember anything else off it.

i lived in alberta the year the way i feel and "take a message" came out and dude was basically inescapable, which was extremely pleasant

glad he's coming back

eight years pass...

perfect example of when the gimmicky thing is actually really good.

wish i had some news to share. seems like he's at least still around online somewhat. most recent single ("where are we going?") on spotify is from 2016 (and it's actually really good). would love a retrospective of what actually happened after the way i feel. seems like he had some good hype but then nothing.

One of the outtakes is called "A Day in the Shade" and has apparently circulated online previously (I don't remember ever hearing it before):

Excited to hear the other extras and revisit the album once again.
